Local opera troupe celebrates 60 founding anniversary with six classics

Actors in Ningbo Yongju opera troupe were busy in the rehearsals for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the troupe. According to the troupe leaders, six classic plays, including the famous "Wife in Hock", will be staged in Ningbo's Shaw Theatre from November 20 to December 2.

After a careful selection, the opera troupe chose and three traditional plays and three award-winning modern plays, including "Half-scissors", "Wife in Hock", "Ningbo Brothers" and "The Visit”.

"Wife in Hock" is a milestone of the Yongju Opera. Many viewers were moved by its profound cultural connotations and elaborate tragic style. It has been six years since the last performance of "Wife in Hock" in Ningbo, said Wang Jinwen, a famed Yongju Opera artist.

Non-staple food prices declines in Oct

The wholesale price of non-staple food in Ningbo dropped to below the national average in October, according to data released by the Municipal Trade Bureau.

The wholesale price of pork, aquatic products, vegetables and soy products last month were 19.44 yuan, 25.44 yuan, 1.95 yuan and 1.33 yuan per kilogram, respectively, down 0.8 percent, 1.1 percent, 8.9 percent and 0.5 percent over September. The wholesale price of poultry and eggs were 13.02 yuan and 8.44 yuan per kilogram while the national average wholesale prices of pork, vegetables, poultry and fowl were 20.3 yuan, 2.08 yuan, 16.43 yuan and 9.71 yuan per kilogram.

The falling price boosted the market consumption. Statistics show most of the city's major non-staple foods sales saw growth last month. The sales of pork, aquatic products, poultry and eggs increased 2.2 percent, 9.3 percent, 1 percent, and 7. 7 percent over the previous month.

Ningbo, Taiwan eye logistics cooperation

The Ningbo-Taiwan Logistics Cooperation Symposium kicked off in Taipei on November 9. Hong Jiaxiang, Ningbo's vice mayor, attended the opening ceremony and extended congratulations.

Ningbo turns over 1.78 billion dollars at Guangzhou Fair

Private economy of Ningbo slightly recovered

According to a report on October 5 by Ningbo Municipal Administration of Industry and Commerce, in the third quarter this year, the private economy of Ningbo maintains steady. Though the number of new businesses drops slightly on the yearly base, the total number of businesses maintains steady, with considerable increase in investment and more rational in industrial structure.

By the end of September, the city has 152,600 private enterprises (or branches), involving 305,600 investors and registered capital of 367.645 billion yuan, increased by 7.81% , 8.63% and 18.11% respectively. The city has 355,800 private businesses, involving 713,800 people and the total investment of 19.418 billion yuan, increased by 8.91% , 7.87% and 18.75% respectively.

In the third quarters this year, the city has 5,392 newly registered private enterprises, reduced by 13.0% against the same period in the previous year, and the registered capital totals 12.22 billion yuan, leveling the total of 2011. There are 17,066 newly founded private enterprises, reduced by 2.4%; and the total investment amounts to 1,340 billion yuan, increased by 4.9%.

In the third quarters this year, the average registered capital of new enterprises and new businesses reaches 2,263,000 yuan and 78,000 yuan, increased by 15.01% and 6.8% respectively against the same period of the previous year.

Zilinfang Art Gallery, a gallery of Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft

At the crossroads of South Tiantong Road and Middle Rili Road in Yinzhou is a 3-storey building, Zilinfang Art Gallery, a private museum of Chen Mingwei, Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts, Inheritor of Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft and Director of Ningbo Arts and Crafts Association.

Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft is a traditional wood carving craft featured for inlaying techniques of using various materials like ivory, boxwood, annatto, rose wood, ox bone, mother-of-pearl, copper sheet, preserved stone, etc. This craft, unique with local culture, is mainly used in furniture, stationery and home utensils.

Zilinfang Art Gallery, covering an area of 4,000 square meters, opened on September 2008. It is said that all the doors of the exhibition halls in the gallery are made of rosewood. The doors and windows cost over 100 cubic meters of such precious wood.
