Hangzhou Bay New Zone witnesses brisk economic development

With the coming of July, the half-year economic statistics have been issued gradually. It is learned from the administration committee of Hangzhou Bay New Zone that in the first half of the year, the zone achieved a total industrial output volume of 53.63 billion yuan, up by 49.1% over the same period of last year; it also achieved a total investment of 10.87 billion yuan on industrial fixed assets, up by 56.1%; and the total tax revenue reached 4.25 billion yuan, up by 46.9%. 18 industrial projects settled down in the new zone, with a total investment of 116.185 billion yuan, including 12 with the investment of over 100 million yuan, and four with the investment of over one billion yuan.
The 100-billion-yuan automobile industry has become the powerful "engine" for the economic development of the new zone. In the first half of the year, the whole-vehicle output of the zone reached 219,000, up by 148,8%, and the auto parts enterprises achieved a total industrial output value of 5.944 billion yuan, up by 131.64% over the same period of last year. The total output value of the auto industry reached 27.325 billion yuan, up by 199.48%, accounting for about half of the total industrial output value of the new zone, making it the largest industry in the zone. Meanwhile, with the promotion of such major projects as Geely-Volve (China) R&D Center and the expanding project of Shanghai Volkswagen, the linkage effect of the auto industry will be further strengthened and upgraded.
Such emerging industries as cultural leisure and life & health have been developing rapidly. After about two years' construction, the building project of the first phase of the Huaqiang Chinese Cultural Revival Park has completed 95%, with the 12 theme projects and 24 supporting projects completed and other decorating projects and equipment installation well under way.
Driven by the development of the emerging industries, the traditional manufacturing industry in the new zone has witnessed new growth. For example, Ningbo Alljoy has improved its productivity and the precision and quality of its products by conducting large-scale technological reforms. In early July, it has become the first enterprise in the new zone to be listed among the "over-the-counter market for growth enterprises". In addition, such traditional leading enterprises as Fotile, Qinyuan and Cixing have begun their new pursuit in the "Internet plus" and "Industry 4.0" trend.
