"An average mechanic in our company's could earn an annualincome of about 80,000 yuan ($13,028) last year. The figure is expected to increase by 5 to10 percent this year," said a recruitment manager in a manufacturing company at the annual Cixi Tech-job Fair held recently.
As local businesses accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading, many companies are competing for technical workers, especially skilled workers. In the 2014 Cixi Tech-job Fair organized by the local personnel sector, most employers offer a monthly salary starting from in 3,000 yuan ($488.55), some offering as high as 5,500 yuan ($895.68). With their bonuses and other benefits, a mechanic can usually make 60,000 ($9,771) to 80,000 yuan ($13,028)a year. Some companies said the salary they advertised is the lowest salary they offer. In fact, for a skilled mechanic with a few years of work experience, the income can be as high as 100,000 yuan ($16,285) per year. According to Chen Xiongxin, vice president of a local mold manufacturer, the average salary of a fitting mechanic ranges from 2500 to 4000 yuan. One of his mechanic made the highest monthly salary of 10,000 yuan last year.
As an annual event, the Cixi Tech-job Fair takes place to bring job seekers and employers together. Being successfully held for seven sessions since 2008, the job fair serves as a major platform for employers and job-seekers. Statistics show the job fair have so far attracted a total 1,785 companies and more than 60,000 job seekers and offered more than 100,000 jobs. Around 33,000 job-seekers secured preliminary job contracts in the job fair.

It is learned from Ningbo Electric Power Bureau and Ningbo Municipal Commission Economy and Information Technology that Beilun Living Garbage Incineration Power Project, the largest living garbage incineration power project, has been put into use recently.
It is said that with an investment of 560 million yuan and a total equipment capacity of 37MW, the project boasts a daily garbage processing capacity of 1500 tons. The project was implemented in two phases, with 25MW of installed capacity and daily processing capacity of 1000 tons for each stage. It is estimated that the annual quantity of electricity generated will reach over 100 million KWH.
According to Chen Jianping, Deputy-director of Ningbo Urban Environmental Hygiene Administration, the daily living garbage generated in the downtown area (the three urban districts) stands at 4000 tons. The project aims to deal with one fourth of the garbage generated in the central town area.
