Yinzhou District funds training on mechanized rice transplanting technique

Agricultural sector of Yinzhou District is calling for more efforts to offer mechanized plowing, seedlings, and planting services to assist local farmers as planting season is arriving.

All its 35 professional agricultural production cooperatives in the district have started working by April 29. Over 700 tractors and 800 transplanters have been under operation. So far, 80,000 mu (13,178.95 acres) farmland have been plowed and 50,000 mu (8236.84 acres) rice farm transplanted, taking up 85 percent of the total rice farmland of Ningbo.

Before the arrival of planting season, Yinzhou District organized a series of trainings on mechanized seedlings among local agricultural cooperatives. These trainings effectively helped local farmers master mechanized rice transplanting technique, which is widely used Yinzhou District now. Statistics show the area of machine-transplanted rice framland in Yinzhou District has exceeded 6.5 million acres (1.07 million acres) in 2014.

In response to the low production and poor quality of traditional seedling method, Yinzhou District called for local agricultural service organizations and farmer-leaders to set up 36 seedling centers, with a greenhouse area of over 150 mu (24.7 acre). These seedling centers provide quality transplanting seedlings to local farmers. In addition, local agricultural cooperatives also offer customized services for the farmers, which greatly accelerated the rate of agricultural mechanization and improved efficiency.

Crude oil import increases at Daxie Port

Ningbo Port ranked No.2 in terms of crude oil import among all the ports in China for the first quarter of this year, with a total volume of 12.90 million tons. The import through Daxie Port stood at 7.0257 million tons, up by 15.6% over the same period last year, with a total value of over $5.32 billion, up by 14.5%. "Daxie Port has become an important crude oil import base with the increasing amount of the imports to China." said a person in charge from Daxie Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

Since its launch in January, he first phase of the project by Xinhai Oil Storage Co. Ltd. has accepted and stored 460,000 tons of imported crude oil, with a total value of $363.12 million. The use of the 600,000-cubic meter crude oil tank effectively alleviated the difficulty for the storage and transportation of the imports, and further strengthened the important role of the Daxie Port as a crude oil import base. With the start of this project, .the storage enterprises for all the top three petrol giants have settled down in Daxie Development Zone, which will consolidate and improve its role as a transfer base for energy.

Two industrial agglomeration zones develop fast

The Hangzhou Bay New Zone and Meishan Island have become two important growth poles of Ningbo's economy. In the first quarter of this year, as the two industrial agglomeration zones at the provincial level, the two zones realized an investment of 5.26 billion yuan and 4 billion yuan respectively, up by 29.6% and 22.9%, clearly much better than the average growth of 16.1% of investment on the fixed assets in Ningbo.

According to the latest "2013 statistics and monitoring assessment report for Zhejiang provincial industrial agglomeration zones", the Hangzhou Bay Industrial Agglomeration Zone and Meishan Logistics Industrial Agglomeration Zone rank No.3 and No.2 respectively, with the comprehensive grades of 74.56 and 75.20, among all the 14 provincial industrial agglomeration zones. In terms of industrial optimization, Hangzhou Bay ranks No.2 in the mark of the strategic emerging industry and the amount of large enterprises, while Meishan Zone ranks No.3 in the proportion of the added value of the service industry, and they rank the top two in the proportion of leading industries. In terms of innovative improvement, Meishan Zone ranks No.1 in the proportion of scientific expenditure, while Hangzhou Bay ranks No.3 in the proportion of output value of new products. In terms of development efficiency and environmental protection, the two zones also achieve good scores.

Ningbo Office of Shanghai-Northeast China Economic Promotion Association established

The Ningbo Office of Shanghai-Northeast China Economic Promotion Association was officially established on the afternoon of April 27.

The association, established in 2006 in line with the national strategies of "developing the East China" and "revitalizing the Northeast", aims to promote the economic and cultural cooperation and exchange between the Northeast provinces and the cities in the Yangtze River Delta area. So far, working offices have been established in many cities in the two areas.

Private enterprises of Ningbo in favor of technologies of foreign countries

Statistics from Ningbo Foreign Economy and Trade Bureau shows that in the first quarter of 2014, Ningbo has signed 93 contracts of technology imports, valuing 98,191,000 US dollars, up by 20.27% year on year. becoming a main force for the introduction of imported technologies.

The statistics show that in the first quarter of 2014, private enterprises of Ningbo signed 10 contracts for imported technologies, valuing 65,943,000 US dollars, increased by 1400% year on year, covering about 67.2% of the total value of contracts introduced. Foreign-funded enterprises signed 68 contracts for imported technologies, valuing 28,474,000 US dollars, reduced by 57.6% against the same period in the previous year and covering29% of the total.
