Import and export striding in Meishan Bonded Port

Statistics from Ningbo Customs show that in the first nine months of 2013, the total volume of import and export in Ningbo reached $74.46 billion, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year. To be specific, the import volume stood at $25.75 billion, down by 2.4%, and the export volume reached $48.71 billion, up by 5.4%. In the same period, the volume of import and export for private companies in Ningbo stood at $39.81 billion, up by 5.7% over the same period last year. 
Among all the counties and districts, Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Zone and Yinzhou District take the lead with the volumes of $12.31 billion and $10.75 billion respectively, while Meishan Bonded Port ranked No.1 in terms of growth rate. With the development of the supporting facilities, Meishan Bonded Port have attracted an increasing number of enterprises to settle down in the zone, and the total volume of import and export for the zone has increased by 44.2%. 
The EU and the US are still the major target markets for the Ningbo’s exports. In the first nine months, the export volume to the EU reached $15.1 billion, up by 2.9%, and that to the US, $11.68 billion, up by 4.3%. With regard to the commodity structure, the top three imports are the iron ores and concentrates, waste medals, and plastics in primary form, and the top three exports are textiles and garments, household appliances, and plastic wares. 
The statistics also show that in the first three quarters, the total volume of import and export via Ningbo Port reached $156.7 billion, up by 6.1% over the previous year, with the export volume standing at $99 billion, up by 5.4%, and the import volume atanding at $57.7 billion, up by 7.2%.

Most vegetable markets and supermarkets reopened

Early on October 13, most of the vegetable markets and supermarkets in Ningbo City were reopened. Disinfecting is carried out in these markets.

By the afternoon on October 13, 35 of the 36 vegetable markets resumed business, and the turnover of the markets on the day reached 3,000 tons, leveling the normal amount.

The large supermarkets in downtown area like Metro, Wal-Mart and Carrefour open as usual. 19 of the affected shops of Shanjiang Supermarket resumed business. 23 of the 25 closed supermarkets have resumed normal business.

Several projects of Beilun contain port passed initial acceptance inspection

The other day, the 5th phase project of Ningbo-Zhoushan container wharf and the Zhongzhai coal wharf project passed the initial acceptance inspection. This is an advance to the final completion and use of the projects.

The 5th phase project of Ningbo-Zhoushan container wharf contains one 100,000-tonnage container berth, one 70,000-tonnage container berth, two 50,000-tonnage container berths, one 20,000-tonnage container berth and supporting facilities. The hydraulic structure of the wharf is designed for 150,000 tonnage containers ships, and it is as long as 1,625 meters. The project is expected to alleviate the problem of inadequate capacity of containers, so as to meet the increasing demand of container handling capacity. The project is expected to increase the annual capacity by 2,500,000 standard containers.

The Zhongzhai coal wharf project has one 150,000-tonnage coal berth and one 50,000-tonnage coal berth and related supporting facilities. The project is aimed to further improve the layout of the Ningbo-Zhoushan port coal wharfs, to promote the intensive development of the coal port operation and to meet the demand of coal transport for the increasing economy in inland areas. The project is expected to increase the annual capacity by 9 million tons and the annual capacity will reach 4.3 million tons.

"Hiking in Ninghai"

The other day, the "Hiking in Ninghai" 2013, a program of hiking through the national mountain climbing path started in Ninghai. Over 1000 hikers from east China joined in the program. The hiking program started in the last year and this is the 2nd year for the program. This year, the starting point is the entrance of national mountain climbing path at Feifeng Mountain and the finish is at Xiazhang, a distance of about 16 km long.

The theme of the hiking program is "walking through the mountain climbing path, loving nature and enjoying life". The program has 7 parts, 1 part for each of 7 months and every part has its own theme. Since the start of the program in October the last year, over 10,000 joined in the program and over 200 of them finished the whole distance.

This year, qualified clubs and individuals could enter their names at Ninghai outdoor sports website. Every participant can get a souvenir, and a club that organized over 100 participants might get the organization prize, as much as 10,000 yuan. The prize is to be awarded in May the next year in China (Ninghai) Outdoor Sports Festival.
