According to Yuyao Municipal Office of Agriculture, as is confirmed by Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission and Zhejiang Office of Agriculture, Yuyao City is now in the phase of the overall integrated development of the urban and rural areas and it is in the front rank in Zhejiang in the unified development of the city and the countryside.
As early as 2002, Yuyao City started the experiment of the unified development of the city and the countryside. By 2012, the GDP of the city amounts to 71.177 billion yuan, and the general budgeted revenue amounts to 11.285 billion yuan, including the local finance income of 6.169 billion yuan. The annual growth is above 10%, respectively 380%, 620% and 730% times that of 2002.
The unified development of the city and the countryside has steadily uplifted the people's living standards. In 2012, the urban per capita disposable income reaches 37,217 yuan, and the per capital net income of the rural residents reaches 17,977 yuan, respectively 380% and 310% times that of 2002. In general, urban and rural citizens are now living a comfortable life.
On the understanding that the infrastructure is the foundation of the unified development of the city and the countryside, Yuyao City has invested over 10 billion yuan in infrastructural construction. With the investment, the city has completed the renovation of over 10 traffic arteries like the Yuyao-Cixi Extension Road of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the double tracked road of the 329 National Rout, and the Yuyao Avenue. 426 dead-end roads in the countryside were put through; 8 urban complexes were initially in shape, like the Eastern Huarun business Square, Poly Cultural and Business Square and the Square of the High-speed Railway Square. The city completed the village improvement program two years ahead of schedule.
