China Fishing Festival to open in September

The 14th China Fishing Festival has its general plan decided and it is to open in Xiangshan County from September 8 to 21.

The slogan of the festival is "Implement the strategy of marine economy" and the theme of the festival is "Be grateful to the ocean". Themed on the fishing culture, the festival aims to promote the marine economy of Xiangshan, and to display the local cultural characteristics and enterprising spirit of Xiangshan.

In company of the primary event, the festival will have 13 other activities. The primary event includes "2011 China Marine Economy Summit Forum", the opening ceremony, the sea worship ritual, the parade of the Mother Goddess and Xiangshan and East Taiwan Cooperation Forum.

In addition, from September 18 to 21, the first Damuwan Cup China (Xiangshan) Rock-climbing Contest will open.

On the afternoon of August 22, Liu Qi, Mayor of Ningbo presided over the 107th executive meeting of Ningbo Municipal Government, which listened to the work report of the preparations of China Marine Economy and Investment Fair. It is learned that at the approval of the State Oceanic Administration and Zhejiang Provincial Government, the first China Marine Economy and Investment Fair will open from November 10 to 12 in Ningbo.

Reportedly, the first China Marine Economy and Investment Fair is sponsored by Zhejiang Provincial Government and State Oceanic Administration and hosted by Ningbo Municipal Government, Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission, Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Marine Fishing, and Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce. The theme of the fair is "scientific use of oceans and promote structural upgrading". Activities will include exhibitions, project signing, project promotion, invitation of human resources and forums and so on.

During the fair, in Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Center will have four exhibition of the state, coastal provinces, Zhejiang, and a comprehensive exhibition. A number of key projects of marine economy will be signed. A job fair will be open. Experts on marine economy will be invited to give advice to related enterprises. In Xiangshan, a summit forum of marine economy will be open.

Ningbo's import covers 40% of the total of Zhejiang

The fast growth of the foreign trade comes back in Ningbo. According to Ningbo Foreign Economic Cooperation Bureau, in July, the import of Ningbo reaches 3.243 billion US dollars, increased by 36.8% over the precious year, with the growth rate respectively 2.8 and 13.9 points higher than the averages of Zhejiang and the country. By the end of July, the total value of import is 21.46 billion US dollars, covering 41.2% of the total of Zhejiang. In other words, Ningbo's import covers over 40% of the total of Zhejiang.

In May this year, Ningbo released policies to encourage import, especially the import of advanced technologies and products. The circulation oriented foreign trade enterprises are encouraged to expand their import and explore new import business. In addition, special supporting funds are given to the professional markets, public service platforms for import trade and import trade practice bases.

2011 China Youth Fashion Design Contest opened in Ningbo

The "Pioneer Cup" 2011 China Youth Fashion Design Contest, jointly hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, All-China Federation of Youth, Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government recently opened in Ningbo.

The contest has received 300 contestant works from 28 provinces, cities and areas including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Zhejiang. Some works are recommended by Beijing Fashion Institute and China Academy of Arts and other comprehensive universities. Some are from professional designers and even famous brand designers in China.

On the afternoon of August 21, an appraisal was conducted by a jury made of Wu Haiyan, Vice Chairman of China Fashion Designer Association, Li Xin, a senior fashion designer, Dr. Zhang Mingjie, Zhang Fuliang of Zhejiang Institute of Textile and Garment and Qi Baijun, director of China Hongbang Institute.

It is learned that the final contest will be conducted in middle October during Ningbo International Fashion Festival.

This contest is organized by Zhejiang Youth League Committee and Ningbo Youth League Committee, and assisted by China Fashion Association, China Fashion Designer Association, and China Fashion Association.
