Public services increasing in "quality" and "quantity"

n 2012, despite of the tight government finance, Jiangdong District increased its expenditure in livelihood to 1.86 billion yuan, up by 11.4%. It has been the third consecutive year for the district government to put over 70% of the added financial investment in livelihood of the people, thus increasing the public services both in "quality" and "quantity".

It is said that in 2012 Jiangdong District made great efforts to promote the construction of the affordable houses: over 3000 affordable houses were under construction and low-rent houses were available for another 612 households. The transformation and improvement of 11 small lanes were carried out, including the improve ment of municipal roads, outside of buildings, shop signboards, landscapes and aerial lines. There are now 83 pension service projects (in 11 categories) in the district and the coverage rate of the high-quality pre-school education resources reaches 85.6%. 

About 80% of the community health service centers have been identified as provincial or national demonstration zones.  In addition to the increase in "quantity", the "quality" of the public services has been greatly enhanced by opening more channels and reducing unnecessary links. Over the past few years, the district has been promoting the "one-stop" public service station model, integrating such services as social rescue, re-employment service, domestic service and family planning service into an open ser" service halls, providing more convenient and direct public services for thousands of citizens. 

The hairless elderly and the disabled are the key objects of social public services. In 2012, another two professional companies for elderly services were introduced to Jiangdong District, and the objects of the government-funded services increased almost by 30%. Over 5000 elderly citizens in the district can enjoy such professional services as domestic service and psychiatric service.

It is said that in the following period the district will focus on the perfection of the network of public services and social management, and strive to achieve the equalization and generalization of the public services.

Ningbo City Image Logo assessed

The assessment of the candidate works of Ningbo City Image Logo was conducted by six experts in the Academic hall of Ningbo Art Gallery on January 26.

It is expected that by the end of this month, 120 pieces of work will be selected as outstanding candidates for media publicizing and public vote in early February to select the final top ten pieces for awards.

The collection of Ningbo City Image Logo started in August in 2012. By December 30th, the organizing committee received 5718 pieces of work from all over the world. After eliminating some that do not meet the basic requirements, the committee finally accepted 5356 pieces as qualified candidates for selection.

Income of Ningbo residents grows faster than that of GDP

According to the annual economic report released on January 23, in 2012, the income of Ningbo urban rural residents grows faster than that of GDP. The per capita net income of rural residents grows faster than the per capita disposable income of urban residents.

Statistics show that in 2012, the per capita disposable income for urban citizens is 37,902 yuan, increased by 11.3% above the previous year, and in real terms after adjusting for inflation increased by 9.4%. The per capital net income of the rural residents reaches 18,575 yuan, increased by 11.8%, and in real terms after adjusting for inflation increased by 10.0%. The income of both the urban and rural residents grows faster than that of GDP (7.8%).

On the other hand, In 2012, the per capital net income of the rural residents grows faster than that of the per capital net income of the urban residents, with the gap between cities and countryside further narrowed. Statistics show that the ratio of income of urban and rural residents reduced from 2.06 :1 to 2.05:1, lower than the average (3.10:1) of the country.

In addition, in 2012 the CPI growth rate of the city maintains low. The consumer price rose by 1.7% against the same period of the proceeding year, dropping by 3.6 points. respectively 0.9 and 0.5 points lower the averages of the country and Zhejiang. In this respect, Ningbo is the last of the 36 large and middle-sized cities of the country.

New Year Fair to be held

It is learned from Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Trade that the 24th Ningbo New Year Fair & National Green and Low-carbon Consumption Exhibition will be held from January 30 to February 5 in Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibition will open from 8am to 4:30pm during the seven days.

It is the first time for the exhibition to be held in Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibition will be held in Hall No.2, Hall No.3 and some outdoor areas, with a total area of 170,000 square meters and 720 booths. The food and agricultural products from hundreds of specialty food companies in Ningbo, as well as from 24 provinces and cities including Taiwan, Xinjiang, Liaoning and Shanghai, and 12 foreign countries such as the US, France and Australia, will be exhibited.

The exhibition features the high-quality pollution-free agricultural products, such as pheasants and mountain vegetables from Siming Mountain, white geese from Xiangshan County, potato from Huchen Village, red oranges from Ninghai County, Zhenning brand chickens, mushrooms from Tiantai County, Yongyou organic milk, and walnuts and dates from Xinjiang.

Ningbo to arrange 40 million yuan to support import

The other day, Ningbo Municipal Government released Opinions on Accelerating Import Trade, which specifies measures to promote import trade.

The Opinions will be put into effect from February. The Opinions suggests that by 2016 the independent import should be 40% of the total of independent import and export, that the import via Ningbo Customs should be 38% of the total of the import and export via Ningbo Customs and that Ningbo should make greater contribution to the balance of foreign trade of Zhejiang and China.

So far, Ningbo has 4,700 import companies. Statistics of Ningbo Customs show that in the first 11 months in 2012, the total import and export volume was $88.403 billion US dollars, and the import 32.113 billion.

In the three years from 2013, every year Ningbo will put in some 40 million yuan as special fund for the support of import trade, to encourage enterprises to enlarge import trade, to build professional import market, to encourage enterprises and to participate in import commodity fairs. The fund shall also be used to support credit insurance and promote supporting services for import trade.
