World Logistic Summit to release its white book

As a part of the 6th China Opening Forum, the World Logistic Summit 2013 will open in Ningbo Shangri-La Hotel on the afternoon of June 9. Over 100 responsible people of logistic companies home and abroad will attend the summit. The agenda of the summit will include discussions of the tendency, opportunities and challenges of the logistic industry of China as well as the release of the white book.

Scholars and officers of related organizations and companies will make keynote speeches and discuss about related questions with other attendants.

Around the topic of the internationalization of logistic enterprises of China, the summit will have discussion of such hot issues as the opportunities and challenges, strategies, e-business and the role of the government. To attend the summit, Ningbo enterprises may enter their names at www.chinaopening-up.org.

The Organization Committee says that the summit will release the first white book of the internationalization of logistic enterprises of China, which will have such contents as the proposals for the solution of the problems facing the logistic enterprises of China and for the improvement of related policies of the industry.

Elderly population up by 4.9%

According to the "“2012 Annual Ningbo Aging Development Statistics Bulletin" released by Ningbo Municipal Committee on Aging on May 29, in 2012 the city’s elderly population with an age of 60 and above (referring only to the residents) stands at 1.124 million, 19.4% of the total population, an increase of 4.9% over last year. The increase of the rate of aging population has become increasingly serious in Ningbo.

The bulletin shows that the number of senior citizens aged 80 years and above reaches 167,000, accounting for 14.9% of the total elderly population. The ratio of urban and rural elderly population is close to 1:2.

The first three administrative areas with highest aging rate are Zhenhai District, Yuyao County and Cixi County, with the proportion of the elderly population of the total population being 21.6%, 21.1% and 20.4% respectively. While the area with the lowest aging rate is Ninghai County, with the proportion being 16.3%.

Ningbo in the eye of reporters

"Wonderful scenery," this is the common experience of the over 30 reporters after their three-day visit to Ningbo.

From May 30 to June 1, reporters for the "Beautiful China Reporter Program" visited Ningbo. Reporters and editors from over 30 media including Xinhuanet, Jiefang Daily, Economic Observer and Beijing Youth Daily paid a visit to Zhaobao Mountain Scenic Spot, Shipu Town, Hangzhou Bay Wetland Park, Zhenhai Memorial Hall of Coast Defense Works, China Air Defense Expo Park and Ningbo Bang Museum.

The "Beautiful China Reporter Program" is an important part of the comprehensive assessment of the leisure cities of China 2013. The reporters in this program will visit, experience and report the leisure industry of the cities for the assessment. The "comprehensive assessment of the leisure cities of China 2013" is an important project organized by National Tourism Administration. The project, aiming to assess 302 cities, is now the largest, most authoritative and interactive assessment of leisure cities of China.

In recent years, Ningbo has accelerated the upgrading of the tourism industry by the construction of tourism bases so as to turn itself into a best tourist destination in the Changjiang River Delta. At present, the city has 45 demonstrative tourism bases, including 16 comprehensive bases, and 29 bases with distinct features. In 2011 to 2012, Ningbo were elected the "Best Leisure Cities of China".

Ningbo Week Put on in Nanjing

The foreign trade promotion meeting of the 2013 Nanjing-Ningbo Week was staged on May 23. Ningbo’s import zone, exhibition and commodity were favored by Nanjing enterprises and supermarkets.

At the meeting, Qian Jiguang, Chief of the Ningbo import commodity exhibition and trade center, made an introduction on the location and trade advantage, rent and tax preferential policies. Some Nanjing enterprises expressed strong interest in the 2013 China Zhejiang import commodity fair to be held on June 8.

In addition, Ningbo Shipping Exchange which went into operation since September last year also attended the promotion meeting. Some middle and high-end shipping service agencies and departments including shipping companies, freight forwarding enterprises, foreign trade companies, shipping colleges, headhunting and consulting companies and maritime law companies participated in it actively.

It was learned that Nanjing port and Ningbo port started their friendship ever since 2006. Both of their management departments were co-sponsors of the joint session of the port management department of the Yangtze River Delta. Ningbo port Co., Ltd., leading enterprises of Ningbo port, has already made investment in Nanjing port and conducted joint transport between sea and river. Today, while both the two ports are planning to enlarge and enhance their services, they have a lot of “common language” with each other.
