Zhenhai introduces sci-tech innovation platforms for industrial development

Multiple high-speed and high-precision surface mount machines are automatically assembling chips and other electronic components onto circuit boards, and generating sets of intelligent modules to serve downstream enterprises in the industry chain. This is a common scene at Yitang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. located in Zhenhai District, Ningbo.

“With the assistance of experts from Ningbo Intelligent Equipment Research Institute here, we have developed a high-speed and high-precision surface mount machine and continuously optimized and upgraded its performance to accurately match the large-scale application of surface mount technology production by enterprises inside and outside the district, like Dooya Mechanic & Electronic Technology.” said a person in charge from Yitang Intelligent Technology. This high-speed and high-precision surface mount machine has been recognized as the first product of its kind in Zhejiang Province, filling the gap in the relevant domestic industry, and its production cost is much lower than imported products.

In recent years, Zhenhai District has introduced 13 high-level science and innovation platforms, such as the Ningbo Institute of Materials of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yongjiang Laboratory, and Ningbo Oriental Institute of Technology, gathered over 2,000 scientific research talents, and established a science and innovation platform alliance of Zhenhai District, thus initially forming a symbiotic pattern of science and innovation.

To leverage intelligence at the doorstep to empower industrial development, Zhenhai District has built a two-way “technology bridge” and organized entrepreneurs to enter sci-tech innovation platforms to experience innovative achievements. Meanwhile, experts from the science and technology innovation platforms are invited to “prescribe drugs” for enterprise innovation. “We can change the existing type of distillation tower to a packed tower with higher efficiency, which can improve the flux, reduce costs and increase efficiency.” advised Li Xingang, a professor of the School of Chemical Engineering of Tianjin University and director of the National Engineering Research Center for Distillation Technology, at the latest “Golden Bridge of Science and Technology” activity, to Jinhai Chenguang Chemical Corporation, one of the top 100 manufacturing enterprises in Ningbo. Reportedly, since last year, Zhenhai District has held about 30 “Golden Bridge of Science and Technology” activities, which have led to the signing of seven cooperation agreements and 45 cooperation intention agreements between sci-tech innovation platforms and enterprises in the district.

Thanks to the sci-tech innovation platforms, advantageous industries like green petrochemicals and new materials in the district are accelerating their quality improvement and revitalization. Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. and Ningbo Institute of Materials,s of Chinese Academy of Sciences have jointly built an innovation research center to carry out collaborative research throughout the chain and provide innovation momentum for the industry of green petrochemicals. CrysDiam Technology and Ningbo Institute of Materials have developed equipment and process technology with full intellectual property rights, and achieved the preparation of carat-level large-sized single crystal diamonds. With the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, Zhenhai District achieved an added value of 14.98 billion yuan for the high-tech enterprises above designated size in the first seven months of this year.

With the help of science and technology experts, enterprises have opened up a new world of development in undertaking research and development in key projects. With the assistance of experts from the National Graphene Innovation Center, SoftCarbon Technology has successfully tackled the “continuous roll to roll preparation technology for graphene film” project, based on which they have achieved the latest research results in graphene vehicle application technology and other related areas. “This project has helped us launch such products as graphene high-pressure water heaters, graphene heated interiors, graphene copper based composite materials, and graphene battery heating films.” said Wang Wei, Chairman of SoftCarbon Technology, claiming that these new products have great potential in improving automotive performance, comfort, and safety. For the first seven months of this year, industrial enterprises in Zhenhai District achieved a new product output value of 45.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.2%.

So far, the sci-tech innovation platform alliance of Zhenhai District has carried out a total of 3,230 municipal and above level projects, including 1,079 state level projects. Since 2020, the platform’s total amount of technology contract transactions with Ningbo enterprises has exceeded 1.02 billion yuan, among which the total amount of technology contract transactions with Zhenhai enterprises has exceeded 448 million yuan
