It is learned from the press conference by Ningbo Government News Office that in 2014, Ningbo will start the construciton of the nine out of the 12 dead-end roads, complete the goal of building 30,000 affordable houses and realize an investment of 47 billion yuan in the major function blocks.
In accordance with the objectives and tasks for 2014, Ningbo will invest 29.26 billion yuan in major urban construction projects and 206.4 billion yuan in the modern urban “50100 project” plan, covering urban comprehensive traffci construction, central urban quality improvement, affordable housing and functional block development.
To deal with the traffic congestion and construct the national bus city, Ningbo will extend the bus lanes with another 40 kilometers. So far, the design of the bus lane between Lianfeng Road and Liuting Street has been completed, and the plan for those of the Xinxing Road and Tongtu Road has been approved. The passenger bypass around the No.1 Hospital has been put into use and the bypass around the Women and Children's Hospital has been designed. Over 3000 public parking places are now under construction to relieve the difficulty for parking in 23 old resident communities.
As for the waterfront lesiure belt construciton, one of the major improvement project for the central urban area, the section along the Fenghua River has been completed and put into use, while the section along the eastern bank of Yaojiang River (Jiefang Bridge to Xinjiang Bridge) has started construction.

The year of 2014 is the second year of the three-year action plan for strategic emerging industry promotion in Ningbo as well as a key year for the 12th Five-year Plan period. At the working meeting for Ningbo’s strategic emerging industries, the 2014 strategic emerging industry promotion plan was issued.
It is learned form the meeting that by the end of this year, the strategic emerging industries will account for 26% of the output value for major industries, and the added value of them will rise by 8.5% over last year.
By taking advantage of the approval of naitonal new energy car demonstration city and the role of such leading enterprises as Ningbo CSR New Energy Technology and Geely Group, Ningbo will accelerate the research and industrializatin of super capacitors and new-type lithium ion batteries, and speed up the research o such new energy vehicles as low floor trams, energy-storage trolleys and pure electronic vehicles to form the industrial chain for new-energy vehicles.
Ningbo will also build the "high perforamce, composite material, and lightweight equipment" industrial chain, launch the in-depth research on such specific industries as general aviation, photovoltaic industry, polyurethane industry, environmental protection industry and integrated circuit industry, and put forward industry-specific proposals for industrial development.
This year, Ningbo will set up the promotion plan for investment in major strategic emerging industries. The projects planned or under construction with an investment of over 50 million yuan amount to 162 with a total investment of 119.72 billion yuan, and the planned investment within this year stands at 28.33 billion yuan, covering 110 projects under construction and 52 to be built.
