After five years’ construction, Ningbo Global Shipping Center is about to be completed. Funded by Ningbo Port Group, the building, 256.8 meters tall, is composed of 52 floors, with a total construction area of about 140,000 square meters. As the tallest building in Ningbo, the center will be put into use at the end of April 2015, forming an international shipping center together with Ningbo International Shipping Service Center (first phase) with more complete functions

The first unveiling ceremony of Overseas Ningbonese statues was held in the Museum of Overseas Ningbonese on July 31st. Tang Yijun, Chairman of Ningbo Municipal Political Consultative Conference, announced the opening of the ceremony. Tang, along with other Overseas Ningbonese, unveiled the statues of 9 outstanding Overseas Ningbonese: Bei Shizhang, Wang Kuancheng, Shaw Runrun, Tan Jiazhen, Lu Xuzhang, Dong Haoyun, Bao Yugang, Cao Guangbiao and Li Dasan. They are representatives of Overseas Ningbonese who have made great contributions for Ningbo since the reform and opening to the outside. In the ceremony, the 94-year old Mr Li Dasan took a picture in front of his own statue. Mr Li, who is now living in Hong Kong, often returned to Ningbo to see the changes of hometown. He is very optimistic about Ningbo’s development in the future. He said, “Hong Kong is small, but Ningbo is very large and there are many industries nearby.” When talking about how to inherit and develop the spirit of Overseas Ningbonese, he said parenting is very important and hope the hard-work and integrity that Ningbonese have could be inherited and developed by the children.
