After the holiday tourism peak drew to an end after the National Day Holiday, Ningbo's tourism market is facing an off-season which will last for more than two months. A number of major local travel agencies said they plan to offer favorable discounts to attract business in the next two months.
"Consumers will see the lowest price before the end of the year. This is a perfect chance for those who are looking for bargain-hunting trips," managers from several travel agencies agreed. As the high transportation and accommodation costs dropped since this October, consumers can expect favorable prices for either a domestic or outbound tour.
Travel routes featured by autumn outing or countryside sightseeing are popular among tourists from this October. Data released by tuniu.com, an online travel company, show that the company has made adjustments on prices of a number of domestic routes. Routes to Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Hainan saw significant price drop. For example, a five-day tour with round fights from Ningbo to Hainan would cost 4,100 yuan during the National Day Holiday but only 3,100 yuan now, a 20 percent decline.
However, most office workers cannot spare the time in their busy schedule despite the attractive deals. As a result, senior citizens lead the tourism market with more flexible time. Local travel agencies are busy designing travel routes to Peking and Hainan, hoping to attract the emerging group.
