It's Happening....

E-commerce boosts Cixi's tourism

These days, Cixi Ancient Town witnesses an increasing number of tourists, who have been attracted to the scenic area by the "one-yuan tour" activity, jointly carried out by the scenic area authority and the tourist website LY.com.

Not long ago, the “one-yuan tour” activity was launched by LY.com, and Cicheng Ancient Town actively joined in the event. Tourists could visit such four major scenic spots as the ancient Town Hall, the Confucius Temple, the Testing Site and the Qingdao Taoist Temple, by spending one yuan buying a ticket instead of the original 75 yuan.

At 9.30 in the morning two days ago, at the Cicheng Tourist Service Center, a number of tourists were queuing before the ticket window to collect the tickets they booked, while the parking lot had been fully occupied. The "one-yuan tour" activity has been well received by outside tourists as well as local citizens.

As a national 4A tourist area, Cicheng Ancient Town is composed of such scenic spots as the ancient Town Hall, the Confucius Temple, the Town God's Temple, the Qingdao Taoist Temple, and the Testing Site. It is a place where tourists can experience the cultural atmosphere and the elegance of the ancient houses in combination with the fashion of cultural creativity. To boost the tourist market, in recent years, the scenic area has taken advantage of the E-commerce to attract online ticket bookers, through its cooperation with such well-known tourist websites as lvmama.com, Tuniu.com, LY.com, Ctrip.com and myoyo.com.

According to Wu Wenjun, Business Administration Manager of Cixi Jinyuan Tourism Company, since 2011 when the scenic area began to develop the E-commerce, the online booking has clearly been on the increase. Last year, the online booking even tripled compared with the previous year. So far, the online booking accounts for 5% of all the tourists.

The E-commerce has boosted the tourist market of Cicheng. Last year, the scenic area received 1.576 visits and the tourist revenue exceeded 24.96 million yuan.
