The "Chinese Painting Series" project is a national level major cultural project and a major focus of the "Double 8 Strategy" in the cultural field. They are significant landmark cultural achievements with Chinese characteristics, charm, and style.

The "Chinese Painting Series" brings together precious paintings scattered around the world, providing a panoramic representation of the development process of ancient Chinese painting and clearly showcasing the cultural development of the Chinese nation. It is the cultural memory of Chinese civilization and the historical foundation for the cultural revival of the new era.

At the end of September last year, the "Painting Series" exhibition, jointly organized by the Central Propaganda Department, the National Press and Publication Administration, and the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Government, was held at the National Museum. It is welcomed with enthusiastic social response, and the exhibition period was repeatedly extended. The number of visitors has exceeded 2 million, making it a popular "phenomenon level" exhibition nationwide.

The Ningbo Special Exhibition will refer to the exhibition settings of the National Museum and combine the cultural characteristics of Ningbo to set up four major sections: "Inheritance and Protection," “Shared Treasure”," " Innovation and Transformation," and "Overseas Communication and Transmission".

The first part "Inheritance and protection" mainly introduces the work process of the "Painting Series" project, showcasing its birth under personal care and continuous attention of the President Xi. The second part, "Shared Treasures," will showcase over 1200 published proofs of Chinese painting masterpieces from various dynasties, covering representative works of important masters and schools throughout history. The third part, "Innovation and Transformation ", contains two major contents: the first part is the reproduction of the representative shrine images in Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi Province, Longmen Grottoes in Henan Province, Maijishan Grottoes in Gansu Province, Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing, Anyue Grottoes in Sichuan Province, Hangzhou West Lake Grottoes and the shrine images returned from overseas which are listed in the World Cultural Heritage List. Travelling through time and space, these immovable grotto art heritages and rare paintings from both home and abroad are included in the "Painting Series"; The second is "Light and Shadow Painting". It is an immersive digital exhibition that takes the innovation and transformation of ancient Chinese painting as the core creative concept. It draws materials from 40 fine paintings collected in overseas museums, deeply blending traditional ink painting with modern digital technology, and creating an immersive painting space that spans multiple dynasties and integrates multiple fine works. The fourth part, "Overseas Communication and Transmission", is an exhibition area related to the theme of Ningbo. Among the paintings included in the "Painting Series", there are many works by Ningbo painters or those who have been active in the Ningbo area, and a considerable portion of them have been exported and spread overseas through Ningbo. They are visual witnesses of cultural exchanges along the Maritime Silk Road.

As a high-level cultural supply, Ningbo Special Exhibition will allow citizens to appreciate the artistic masterpieces born in different time and space closely. It will showcase the beauty of a thousand years in a day. Visitors can deeply experience the vast and profound heritage of Chinese culture, feel the spirit and integrity of the Chinese nation, cultivate patriotism, and strengthen cultural confidence.

During the exhibition, a reading area and a public education area will also be set up at the Ningbo Art Museum, showcasing various volumes of the "Chinese Painting Series" to the public, and launching art popularization activities such as traditional culture lectures and art appreciation public welfare classes
