It's Happening....

Cross-border E-business benefits Ningbo citizens

With its unique port logistics advantages, Ningbo has become a paradise for cross-border E-business.
Statistics show that the online retail volume for the first half of the year in Ningbo reaches 25.694 billion yuan, up by 61.33% over the same period of last year. With the cross-border import volume standing at 1.175 billion yuan, Ningbo has become the first cross-border E-business pilot city in China to possess a trading volume of over one billion yuan.
At the end of August, Ningbo Taotaoyang Co. Ltd., one of the first cross-border E-business pilots in Ningbo, signed an agreement with Essence Securities to launch its listing program on the national SME share transfer system (the OTCBB). As the first cross-border E-business enterprise to enter the OTCBB, it is expected to listed early next year.

As a port city, Ningbo has a convenient traffic and transportation environment for cross-border shipping.
Importers can conduct bulk purchase overseas and then ship the products by sea with a relatively lower shipping cost. Then the products will be stored in the warehouses of the bonded zone, before being delivered by the convenient domestic express delivery services. The delivery period then can be shorted to within one week rather than one month in the traditional overseas shopping model.
To consumers, these advantages mean more reasonable prices and faster deliveries. Compared with the traditional import trade and "overseas shopping", the cross-border shopping is called "sunshine overseas shopping", as the product quality is more reliable.
According to a person in charge from Ningbo Port Office, the cross-border E-business products will be attached with the QR code after the supervision by the Customs and the inspection and quarantine departments. The buyers can scan the code to find out all the stages of the delivery by using their mobile phones, thus ensuring the quality of the products.
Recently, the cross-border shopping platform has launched the new "quality safeguard system", extending the QR code information to the overseas end. With a scan of the code, the consumers can find out the source of the procurement. Ningbo has now become the first cross-border E-business pilot in China to realize the whole-process (both domestic and overseas) information tracking for products.
