City stresses precautions against H7N9 bird flu

Health authorities in Ningbo reported on Monday a fourth human infection of the H7N9 strain of bird flu in the city.

Local authorities have attach great importance to the epidemic. A conference on H7N9 bird flu prevention and control measures has been held on Monday. The two vice mayors, Zhang Minghua and Lin Jingguo, attended the conference. Relevant departments are urged to spare every effort in the treatment and prevention of the H7N9 epidemic.

The municipal government issued an urgent statement on Tuesday, calling for strict prevention and control work against human infection with H7N9 bird flu. Art gallery opens in Tianyi Pavilion

An art gallery was officially opened in Tianyi Pavilion Museum last Saturday. Luzi Yue, Ningbo's Mayor, and Pan Gongkai, China's famous painter, dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, jointly inaugurated the gallery. Tianyi Pavilion is the oldest private library in China, one of the world's three oldest private libraries and the best-known tourist spot in the city. The opening of the art gallery marks the museum’s new role in art collection, display, exchanges, research, appreciation, and publishing.

Rao Zongyi, a renowned master of Chinese culture and honorary curator of Tianyi Pavilion Museum, sent a congratulatory message, saying "the art gallery of Tianyi Pavilion is bound to make significant contributions to the nation’s cultural renaissance," He added, "more ancient and modern masterpieces will be collected in the museum, for which I would like to extend my congratulations." Zhang Minghua, deputy mayor, Wang Jianshe, the senior secretary of city council, Gao Shixiong, the renown calligrapher, Wu Mingshan, the acclaimed Chinese painter, Chen Zhenlian, the renown calligrapher, together with other artists and critics from Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Shandong Province attended the opening ceremony.

Pan Gongkai was appointed as the honorary curator of the art gallery. He hopes the newly opened art gallery will enhance the academic value of the Tianyi Pavilion Museum, which make new contributions to local culture.

China Dynamic Energy Storage Technology and Materials Conference held in Ningbo

With the theme of "Tesla Effect and the dynamic energy storage technology and materials under the new subsidy policy", the 2014 Dynamic Energy Storage Technology and Materials Conference  was held in Ningbo on January 7. The conference was jointly sponsored by Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the state 973 project group of the lithium battery manufacturing, the New Materials Association of China's battery industry and China Battery Alliance, and hosted by Ningbo CSR New Energy Technology Co. Ltd.

Academician Yang Yusheng from Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a speech themed on “making full use of the existing batteries and taking time to develop safe high-energy materials”. Academician Liu Youmei from Chinese Academy of Engineering put forward the proposal that there is a wide application for energy-storage urban rail public transportation.

Ningbo pay tributes to Run Run Shaw

Sir Run Run Shaw, or Shao Yifu, honorary president of Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Ltd (TVB) and founder of Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Ltd., a media mogul and philanthropist of Hong Kong, passed away at his home in Hong Kong last Tuesday at the age of 106.
Born on Nov. 23, 1907 in Ningbo, Shaw was one of the leading members of the "Ningbo Bang", a group title given to people, especially businessmen, of Ningbo origin involved in commercial activities overseas. People in Ningbo expressed their condolences in various ways to the late Hong Kong movie industry giant, who was committed to philanthropy that benefits his hometown.

Intelligent service station entering communities

In 2014, Yinzhou District will introduce more than 200 intelligent service stations into communities all over the district, so that the residents will have more access to the intelligent life.

At the intelligent service station, residents can find such public transformation as bus and prices, have such operations as payments for bills of water, electricity and gas, and payments for credit card, mobile phone and IC card, and even book tickets for train, coach, plane and scenic spots. In addition, the station has such functions as the classification and collection of solid wastes and hazardous wastes.

At present, the intelligent service stations have been piloted in Sounan Street and Zhonghe Streets, and have been welcomed by residents. In the following period, the stations will be installed in all communities and surrounding areas in the district.
