Recently, around the Oriental Flower Expo Park of the Dongqian Lake Tourist Resort, and the Er'ling Mountain and Fuqian Mountain of Dongqian Lake Town, gardeners have been digging holes for the planting of over 90,000 such colorful greening trees as sweetgums, phoebe chekiangensis and sassafras. According the plan, by March 2005, when the project will have been completed, Dongqian Lake can boast three stripes of colorful landscape forest belts. So far, the forest coverage rate of Ningbo is over 50%, but most of the forest landscapes are not so good in quality, simple in function and weak in ecological function. "With the background of the ‘Beautiful Ningbo’ project, we think it necessary to have the colorful forests rather than the simple green ones, which will improve the ecological service function of them." said Huang Hui, Director of Ningbo Municipal Forestry Bureau. By planting, supplementing, reforming and reserving trees, the project aims to increase the proportion of rare varieties and colorful trees, in combination with other forest cultivating and protecting measures as greening of the mining areas and roads, forest fire prevention and forest pest control. According to staff from Ningbo Greening Commission, the colorful trees can be appreciated for their leaves, branches, flowers or even fruits. The colorful trees will mainly be those from the local areas rather than imports from abroad.
Since Nov 26, the Old Bund area has totally become an area for only walking. Streets like Zhongma Road, Yangshan Road, Yangshan Alley, Erheng Street will say no to social cars all day. Entrance will only be confined to staff cars with cards, which have to park in Wuhao Gongguan or below the Yongjiang Bridge.

Besides, the underground parking lot of Haocheng International, Waitan Fengjing, Haidun Gongguan, near Yangshan Road and Manao Road, are also open for the public. Other parking lots also include the underground parking lot of People's Road, Baisha Park and the temporary parking lot of Waitan Bridge.

Chinese cuisine is a good "name card" for China to spread to the world the oriental culture. On November 25, the "Ningbo cooking craftsmanship delegation" held a performance show before setting out abroad for demonstrating Chinese cuisine. Weng Lumin, Deputy-director of the Standing Committee of Ningbo Municipal People's Congress, watched the show and talked with the delegates.
Appointed by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and organized by Ningbo Municipal Office for Overseas Chinese Affairs and Ningbo Municipal Trade Bureau, the cooking delegation will visit Munich and Hamburg of Germany, Luxemburg, and Amsterdam of Holland. This is the first time for the central Overseas Chinese Affairs Office to select Ningbo cuisine to demonstrate to the foreign countries. So far, the delegation made up of five Ningbo cuisine masters have been formed.
During their visit, the delegation will show to the European diners the exquisite cooking skills as well as the delicious traditional Ningbo dishes. Besides the performance, they will teach the chefs of Chinese restaurants in Europe the cooking craftsmanship of Ningbo cuisine, so as to promote the Ningbo food culture to the local people and enhance Ningbo’s city image.
