Tianyi Square in China's Ningbo

Located in the Ningbo City Center, Tianyi Square is the city's biggest square with an area of 193,000 square meters, 32 percent of which are the green belts. As the one-stop shopping, entertainment and commercial plaza, it is known as the 'Business Aircraft Carrier of Ningbo' and 'name card' of the city.

Completed in 2001, the square was co-designed by the Ningbo Architectural Institute and a U.S. architectural designing agency. The square's main architectural structures are building complexes with a touch of European flavor.

Ningbo Library to be relocated in Ningbo Eastern New Town

According to a related department of Ningbo, Ningbo is to take another important step in its construction of cultural facilties. The city has decided to spend 240 million yuan to rebuild Ningbo Library in Ningbo Eastern New Town. The preparation has officially started.

Ningbo Library was built in 1927. The present buildings of the library were built in 1988, with the donated fund of 500 HK dollars by Yue-Kong Pao and 5 million yuan by Ningbo Municipal Government. Then the area of the Library was 8,000 square meters. In 2001 Ningbo Municipal Government put in 21 million yuan to renovate the buildings and expanded the area to 12,000 square meters. With the rapid social and economic development and the constant rise of the number of readers, the present facilities of the library are no long capable of meeting the demand of the readers.

In 2011, the new Ningbo Library was listed in the key projects of Ningbo for the 12th Five-Year-Plan Period. In the Government Work Report 2013, it is decided to be an important task of the year, and the project is put in the agenda. The other day, Ningbo Municipal Government held a symposium for this project. It was decided that the new library should be relocated in Ningbo Eastern New Town, with the planned area 1.6 hectares and the floorage about 30,000 square meters. The investment totals 240 million yuan. At the meeting it was decided that the new library should be harmonious with the neighborhood buildings and with distinct Ningbo features and that the construction should be finished in two years.

The conciliation service center in Gulou business circle recently succeeded in mediating a labor dispute. Xiao Cai, who applied for the labor dispute settlement, accepted the social security compensation offered by a KTV from the business circle. 
In the business circle are 6 business buildings with more than 2,000 enterprises, 80% of which are small-medium sized ones, and over 8,000 workers. Labor disputes in this circle are commonly seen and difficult to resolve. To address the situation, the Haishu District set up the center, the first one in Ningbo.
Xu Zhigang, director of the conciliation service center, said that the center can eliminate many time-consuming legal procedures that people have to tackle with when applying for conciliation. Work efficiency will be highly improved.

A Test of Hang-Yong High-speed Railway

The Hang-Yong High-speed Railway will open on June 30. On the afternoon of May 15, a test run at a speed of 300 km/h was made from Hangzhou Dong to Ningbo Dong, taking 52 minutes. 
The Hang-Yong High-speed Railway has 7 stations: Hangzhou Dong, Hangzhou Nan, Shaoxing Bei, Shangyu Bei, Yuyao Bei, Gaoqiao and Ningbo Nan. Part of the Hang-Yong High-speed Railway is through the Xiao-Yong Railway. 
The time taken from Ningbo Dong to other station is: 5 minutes to Ningbo Nan; 10 minutes to Zhuangqiao; 19 minutes to Yuyao Bei; 26 minutes to Shangyu Bei; 32 minutes to Shaoxing Bei; 40 minutes Hangzhou Nan and 52 minutes to Hangzhou Dong. 
When Ningbo South Railway Terminal puts into use, the time taken from Ningbo to Hangzhou Dong will reduce to 45-47 minutes and 33-35 minutes from Ningbo to Hangzhou Nan.
