The inauguration meeting for the Entrepreneurial Development Association for the Returned Overseas Chinese was held at the Service Center for Non-party Representatives in Haishu District, marking the official establishment of the first society for the returned students in the district.

According to a person in charge from Haishu District Overseas Chinese Affair Office, the statistics of last year show that in the district 5557 overseas students returned to work in or around Ningbo. The newly established association has 50 members, mostly returned from such countries or regions as the US, the UK and Australia, with 62% of them being postgraduates and above.

Smart transportation application system established

"Ningbo Pass", the travel information service system based on the mobile phone terminal, was issued to the public in September 2013. Covering almost all the aspects of transportation including pedestrians, vehicles, roads, ships and ports, "Ningbo Pass" has 21 functions such as real-time bus information, public bicycle system, the transit traffic, train ticket balance, air traffic, express delivery check, vehicle repair and driving lessons, travel planning, traffic violation enquiry, accident report and taxi service. After over a year's operation, the system now has over 600,0000 users with half of them being active and a quarter of them being daily active users.

The traffic congestion index system for the central urban area of Ningbo is under internal testing and adjustment after the completion of technological R&D and hardware construction. The system, integrating the high-definition video information data from about 300 street corners of the central urban area and the GPS data from taxis, can be used to describe the traffic index from the three levels of road sections, main roads and road network of the major parts of the urban area.   

To tackle the problem of car parking, the smart parking guidance system has been established. So far the parking guidance system has involved 16 parking lots in Haishu District and five in Jiangbei District. Through the system, the owners of private cars can have access to such information as the location of parking lots, the amount of parking spaces and their availability

11 cultural projects attracting 6.6 billion yuan

Recently, a cultural-financial docking meeting between banks and enterprises was held, when the agreements were signed on the scene for 11 cultural projects (including the "Happy Beach" project and the Daci Cultural Park of Xikou Town) with eight banks, including the CBC and the Import-Export Bank, involving a total intended financing volume of up to 6.6 billion yuan. Ningbo Municipal Press and Publication Bureau signed a financial strategic cooperation agreement with the central branch the People's Bank of China.

The 11 signed projects cover such fields as the movie and TV production, copyright trade, cultural facilities construction and cultural industrial parks construction. Take the "Minhe" Cultural Industrial Park, which has been fully invested and operated by private capitals. The project won an intended investment of 300 million yuan from the Bank of China and was supported by the national cultural and financial support plan.

Over 1500 Ningbo specialties exhibited at Agricultural Fair

The 2014 Zhejiang Agricultural Fair was held on the two venues of Hangzhou Peace Conference and Exhibition Center and Xiaoshan Xinnongdu Conference and Exhibition Center on the morning of November 21. Over 1500 high-quality agricultural products from 130 Ningbo enterprises were exhibited at the fair.

The Hall No.4 is the main exhibition area of the fair, exhibiting specialties from all over the province. In the prominent position of the hall, Ningbo Rice Industry Pavilion features rice seedlings and tall rice plants. A 3D foam combine harvester model is depicting the whole process of rice production. On the wall screen, the micro-film "Seeds" shows the research and development of the "Yongyou" super-rice and the efforts of the R&D team. The exhibits include not only such widely planted varieties as Yongyou No. 12, 15 and 17, but also the newly developed Yongyou1540 and 362, which have passed the provincial appraisal this year.
