“The high-performance self-lubricating polyurethane material we developed and produced has been widely used in the medical field.” said Xiang Peng, the project leader of Ningbo Bayon Biomaterials Co., Ltd., who attended the last regional match of the 13th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition with the latest research and development achievements of his company on August 5.
Polyurethane materials are widely used in such fields as artificial blood vessels and medical catheters. Bayon Biomaterials has solved the lubrication and wear-resistance problems of traditional polyurethane materials in long-term use by introducing innovative materials into the polyurethane matrix. “Patients are unwilling to undergo gastroscopy due to poor experience, and the main reason behind this is the in sufficient lubrication of gastroscopy. Our product will effectively improve patients’ experience after being introduced to the market.” Xiangpeng is full of confidence to its future application.
“The original intention of the Ningbo division of the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has always been to explore new driving forces in emerging fields and find breakthroughs for high-quality development.” said a related person in charge from Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. In recent years, the competition has been accelerating the gathering of new momentum for the development of industries in Ningbo through constant exploration and introduction of new projects.
Especially over the past two years, the competition has excavated a total of 2,282 “potential projects”, constantly seeking new driving forces in the fields of high-end equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, biomedicine, new materials, new energy, new-energy vehicles, and new-generation information technology.
Yidong Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. won the first prize in the start-up group of the national finals of the 12th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition last year. After a year of cultivation, it has expanded its scale of development.
A hair thread is about 80 microns in diameter, while the circuit length of Yidong Semiconductor is only over 10 microns, which is equivalent to one sixth of the diameter of a hair thread.
“This year, we hope to dock with more leading integrated circuit companies, complete sampling and sample delivery, and improve the output value of these two types of packaging substrate products.” said Liu Kai, General Manager of Yidong Semiconductor. With the expansion demands of such applications as AI, cloud computing, and autonomous driving, the high-end substrates will usher in a billion-level market. At present, Yidong Semiconductor has obtained tens of millions of yuan in pre-A round financing and will cooperate with such domestic leading enterprises as Feiteng and Sugon to strive for a sales volume exceeding 1.5 billion yuan within five years.
Besides Yidong Semiconductor, Learnable AI is an excellent enterprise winner in the 11th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which has achieved AI logical reasoning and automatic correction of “big questions” of the high school and college entrance examinations. PilotD Automotive has developed a unique physical level sensor simulation method to address the drawbacks of insufficient simulation fidelity and low simulation efficiency in the current field of simulation testing and validation. This method can enhance the ability of simulation environments in replacing real testing environments.
Data show that since its first session in 2012, the Ningbo competition area has attracted over 5,000 registered projects, generated 163 award-winning companies in the national competition, driven mainstream domestic investment institutions to invest and finance 7.2 billion yuan in participating companies’ projects, and cultivated five listed companies, one unicorn company, and 65 gazelle companies. A large number of high-quality participating projects with high technological content, great market potential, and good social benefits have quickly been transformed into real productivity, thus effectively promoting the vigorous development of “innovation and entrepreneurship” in Ningbo.
This year, 1,154 companies have registered for the Ningbo division of the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. According to the registration situation, there are more high-level talents in the participating companies this year, including 21 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The participating companies have a total of 662 invention patents.
