Ningbo Huasheng International Home Plaza, an investment of 1.6 billion yuan in the first phase, broke ground on August 17.

This project is an important node project of Beilun, and also a grand project of the 12th Five-Year Plan period of the city. It is located at the cross of the Jiangnan Road and the Round-the-city Ring Road, covering an area of 230 m, with building space to reach 340,000 m2. The project is co-funded by Ningbo Development Investment Group and NETDZ Holdings Inc.  It will be built into a market of building materials, home decorations, furniture, etc.  It is set to be a largest market of the kind in East China.

On the day, the Ningbo Development and Investment Group signed an agreement with the Heung Kong Group about establishing a Heung Kong Mall in the market.

According to cnnb.com.cn, the other day, the automatic innovation project of the 220kv Jiangnan Substation, the largest innovation project of the kind in Ningbo, finished. This raises the power supply reliability in Beilun District. And the power supply is more assured to the power consumers like the port of Beilun, the Raw Oil Port, Samsung Heavy Industries and Asia Paper.

The 220kv Jiangnan Substation it the first 220-KV substation in Beilun District. It is not only a supplier of power in Beilun, but also an important connector of the Zhoushan Grid and the Grid of the mainland.

With the rapid economic development, the demand of power in Beilun has been increasing every year. However, the problem of equipment aging of the Jiangnan Substation became quite serious, affecting the safety and stability of the power grid. 4 years ago, the automatic innovation of the substation started.

"The innovation project of Jiangnan Substation is the most difficult one," said a related person from a department of Ningbo Power Supply Bureau. The success of the project will contribute greatly to the stable operation of the Zhoushan Grid.

Central Urban Area of Beilun More Urbanized

On August 11, designers of urban construction and experts from the Zhejiang Construction Department gathered in Beilun for a meeting on the upgrading of central urban area (CUA) f Beilun.

Based on its industrial competitiveness and the geo-advantages, Beilun has proposed to construct One-District-Three-Town-Areas, which opened the prelude to the framework of the urban construction and the improvement of the Beilun CUA.

The CUA is an area of 10 KM2 between  Lushan Road, Qiantang River Road, Hengshan Road. It will consist of four tracts: CBD, Gateway Area, Industrial Transformation Area and Tongshan Academy Area.

"We hope through the improvement of the CUA, the urban functions could be improved, so that the urban image can better cater to the requirement of a port city", said an official with the Urban Planning Bureau of Beilun. This area will be a window of Beilun's image, he said.

It is learned that the CBD area has taken shape and the greening project is being undertaken. The Gateway Area will be turned into a HOPSCA, with the creative industry as the highlight. The Industrial Transformation Area aims to redevelop the old industrial areas and transform the enterprises. The Tongshan Academy Area will be the living area and the business area of the port-based industries.

Experts say that the CUA of Beilun will be the city's saloon and that it will greatly improve the radiating effect and the services. During the coming five years, a number of key projects such as plazas and hotels will be completed. By then, Beilun will be more like a metropolis.

Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone opened

On the afternoon of July 27, the Party Working Committee of Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone and the Administrative Committee of Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone were founded, indicating the official opening of this national economic and technical development zone.

Reportedly, Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone is the successor of Ningbo Chemical Zone, and it is today the only petrochemical industrial zone in Zhejiang. Since 2003 when the large scale development started, , the zone has initially formed its development mode featured for resource saving, clean production and environment friendliness. It is praised by famous chemists as one of the few first class chemical parks in China.

At present, Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone has over 40 famous Chinese and foreign chemical enterprises like Zhenhai Petrol Refining and Chemical Company, Akzo Nobel and LG, with its annual output exceeding 100 billion yuan, ranking the top three among the development zones in Zhejiang. Since 2008, the zone was appointed a national new chemical material base by the National Development and Reform Commission, a national high and new technological base by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and a national demo new chemical industrial base by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. On December 30, 2010, at the approval of the State Council, it was upgraded to be a national economic and technical development zone.

It is learned that the Administrative Committee of Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technical Development Zone is an agency of Ningbo Municipal Government, and under the authorization of Ningbo Municipal Government, it has a city-level economic administrative authorization and the county-level social administrative authorization.
