Ningbo promotes the establishment of 'zero carbon factories'

On July 30th, it was learned from the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology that the bureau has released the "Evaluation Measures for Zero Carbon (Near Zero Carbon) Factories in Ningbo (Trial)". According to the plan, Ningbo will pass the evaluation of "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories" to encourage enterprises to accelerate green transformation and develop new quality productivity.

Zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories "refer to production factories that directly or indirectly produce zero or nearly zero greenhouse gas emissions during the production and operation within a certain period of time.

The carbon emissions in China's industrial sector account for nearly 70% of the overall carbon emissions, and the most basic unit for achieving green transformation in the industrial sector is factories, "said the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Economy and

Information Technology.

In the context of "dual carbon", building "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories" has become a key path for enterprises to seek "net zero" emissions in the value chain and move towards "zero carbon". Starting from 2021, more and more companies have publicly committed to building "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories".

The "Evaluation Method for Zero Carbon (Near Zero Carbon) Factories in Ningbo (Trial)" divides the evaluation into two levels: "Zero Carbon (Near Zero Carbon) Basic Factory" and "Zero Carbon (Near Zero Carbon) Demonstration Factory" according to the carbon offset ratio and comprehensive score.

The plan also proposes the basic conditions for the creation of "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories". For example, it is required that "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories" meet the requirements of using high-efficiency energy-saving equipment, achieving advanced energy efficiency, and the four major management systems of energy, environment, quality, and occupational health and safety should be certified by third-party certification. Internal education and training related to "zero carbon (near zero carbon) factories" should be regularly carried out.

To encourage green factories to further tap into the potential of energy conservation and carbon reduction, and ultimately create "zero carbon factories", Ningbo will reward enterprises selected as national and municipal "zero carbon demonstration factories" with up to 2 million yuan and 500000 yuan respectively
