Up to now, 69 academician workstations have been registered in Ningbo, over 600 high-tech projects have been launched and over 600 national invention patents have been submitted.
Presently, our city is in a critical period of transformation development, economic growth being slow and restraints being prominent. Therefore, the transformation from a resource-oriented economy to an innovation-oriented economy is extremely pressing. “In this year’s Talents of Science and Technology Week, Ningbo will build a batch of academician workstations to attract talents and maximize their wit so as to meet enterprises’ demands of technological innovation.” said a relevant official in the Ningbo Association for Science and Technology.
“Having academicians work with us is like adding wings to a tiger. Our strength has been greatly boosted.” said Yao Lijun, chairman of Ningbo Konfoong Materials Co.,Ltd.. Collaborating with the academician group led by Zhou Yu, the company has launched 863 projects, which not only filled in the gap in the domestic semiconductor field, but also made Konfoong a pacesetter in using ultra-high purity sputtering target material to produce integrated circuit chip domestically. The sales volume of the company has been increasing at an average annual growth rate of 50%.
Aside from the cooperation between academicians and enterprises, public technology platforms were established in places of intensive industries of private enterprises. “In addition to large enterprises like Fotile and Sacon, we also provide a string of services such as rapid manufacturing for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.” A related principal of the academician station of Ningbo Hechuang Rapid Technology Co.,Ltd. said that since the establishment of the station, Hechuang has worked with over 900 Ningbo enterprises including 88 top-100 enterprises and has provided strong technological support for the development of new products and the materialization of new techniques and crafts.
“The academician workstation has become a potent driving force in the transformation development of Ningbo’s economy and has boosted enterprise innovation and competitiveness.” said the manager of the Municipal Academician Service and Consultant Center. Our city has brought in 81 innovative teams and over 350 high-level experts. According to incomplete statistics, academician workstations have created economic benefit of more than 1 billion yuan for enterprises with workstations.
