Two research projects awarded first prize

It is learned from Ningbo Science & Technology Bureau that two scientific research projects have recently been awarded the first prize for sci-tech projects in Zhejaing Province. One project is the "molecular detection and quarantine technology for high-risk seedling diseases" by Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Technology Institute, and the other, "oxide semiconductor nano-wire and nano-device" by Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology & Engineering of Chinese Academy of Science.
Compared with the traditional detecting technology, the molecular detection and quarantine technology for high-risk seedling diseases makes four breakthroughs. So far, the project has achieved the molecular detecting technology for 66 high-risk seedling diseases, obtained six national invention patents and set up 10 national standards. The technology has been promoted and put into use in 74 ports and 10 enterprises in 24 provinces or municipalities, and has helped the related inspection and quarantine departments to capture 10 seedling diseases.
Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology & Engineering of Chinese Academy of Science has been conducting a systematic research in the development of oxide semiconductor nano-wire and nano-devices for years. The awarded project boasts a response and recovery period of two seconds with the application of the nano-wire alcohol sensor.
