CPI up by 2.0% in July

The CPI(Consumer Price index) of July was released on August 13th by the Survey Office of National Bureau of Statistics in Ningbo. Compared with the same period of last year, the CPI in July, 0.3% higher than in June, increases by 2.0%, 0.6% lower than the increase in June.
Prices of consumer goods increase by 1.4% and that of service items by 3.2%. Specifically, food prices increase by 2.1%, wines and cigarettes by 0.2%, clothes by 2.5%, appliances and maintenance service by 2.0%, medical care and personal necessities by 2.8%, recreation, education, cultural articles and service by 1.1%, housing by 3.3%. But transportation and communication prices decrease by 0.1%.
Compared with the CPI in June, the CPI in July increases by 0.3% for the increase in travel prices. And food prices grow by 0.1% due to the influence of high temperature on storage and transportation of vegetables and fruits. Prices of vegetables and fruits grow by 5.3% and 2.6% respectively. And owing to the high temperature and decreased selling, prices of meat and poultry products is down by 0.1% , that of eggs by 0.7% and that of aquatic products by 0.6%.
Prices of service items grow by 1.1% in July compared with that in June. The increase is mainly due to the great increase of 18.2% in travel cost in the travel season. And for the peak of training courses in summer vacation, prices of education are up by 1.6%.
Prices of industrial consumer goods decrease by 0.1% compared with that in June. Prices of clothes and jewels are down by 1.8% and 4.3% respectively. After the National Development and Reform Commission has adjusted prices of processed oil, prices of patrol, diesel and LPG have decreased by 1.2% ,1.1% and 1.4%.
