2015 Will See Ningbo’s Power Supply Demand Basically Met

It was said in Ningbo’s Grid Construction Conference on April 14th that with the construction of power grid and the operation of ultra high voltage grid in Zhejiang Province, 2015 will see Ningbo’s power supply demand basically met, though part of Ningbo will be still under-supplied. It is expected that the maximum power demand will reach 11 million Kilowatt, an increase of 6.4% year on year.
In 2014, with the construction of power grid and the operation of ultra high voltage grid in Zhejiang Province, electricity supply paucity turned into surplus. In 2015, if extreme hot weather ensues, the maximum electricity demand could reach 11.5 million kilowatts.
"Ningbo power grid capacity can basically meet the demand, but there is tension in some local areas and problem of weak structure." Said people in charge of the electricity sector. These areas include the eastern part of the city, Yinzhou center, in particular, Jiangdong District, New City in the east and high-tech zone.

People in charge from Ningbo Power Company say that the so-called Three Pairs of Power Supply, which means dual power supplies, dual lines, and dual accesses, is recognized as the most advanced and reliable distribution network, with three key modules at the same time enjoying their backups, that is to say, when one module fails, the smart device will switch to the standby module in a timely manner to provide continuous power supply. “This means that the current annual outage time of Three Districts has gone down to within five minutes, and the power supply has over 99.999% reliability, reaching the international advanced level."
It is said that Ningbo ranks first in Zhejiang in terms of the coverage area of Three Pairs of Power Supply—which stands at 106 square kilometers. In 2015, Ningbo will continue to advance so that it will reach 148 square kilometers in coverage area, covering Haishu District, Jiangdong District, Jiangbei District as well as a small part of cicheng Hongtang. In the next two years the city will have 221 square kilometers covered by Three Pairs of Power Supply, includes three districts and municipalities, Yinzhou District, Zhenhai District, Beilun District, and the core area of Hangzhou Bay. This means that future residents in these areas will experience at most five minutes of blackout annually.
