In the past 2014, it is a key project of the three-year plan of transforming the economy and society to improve people' livelihood and welfare.
A good ecological environment is the most beneficial welfare for the people. In 2014, Ningbo will accelerate the ecological protection constructions like solid waste treatments. By the end of November, Forest Ningbo has finished making 144km artificial green belt along the coast and finished 140 thousand mu afforestation. 85 green cities or towns and 1034 green villages have been built.
At the same time, Ningbo kept optimizing the living environment and speeding up the
constructions like city landscape forestation, rebuilding of main streets and lanes, rebuilding of city villages and rebuilding of old residential areas. With the efforts, now the three rivers and six banks have been greatly upgraded, with the riverside covered with grasses and flowers. The transformation has revitalized the mother river and attracted lots of people. The new city landscape has become a highlight of the modern international port.
At the same time, Ningbo also kept promoting the development of people' livelihood and the constructions of science and education, medical care, culture and sports, social welfare and houses for low-income people. By the end of November 2014, the three-year plan has invested 4.06 billion yuan in social projects. 40 thousand sets of houses are under construction. Low-rent housing together with public rental housing helped 9541 needy families. Ningbo University of Technology Hangzhou Bay Automobile College has been put into use, which will cultivate talents for the development of automobile industry in the city. The expansion of Mingzhou Hospital in Yinzhou will provide more convenience for the local residents. The Olympic Center is now under construction, which can not only satisfy people’s need for body building but also can accommodate large competition events. It will be completed in 2 years.
