Alcohol imports via Ningbo Bonded Logistics Center increase steadily

In recent years, China has become the fastest growing market for consumption of alcohol in the whole world. According to statistics, from January to February this year, a total of 490,000 liters of alcohol was imported via Lishe Bonded Logistics Center, with a value of US$1.64 million, up by 25.6% and 13.9% respectively. In terms of the country of origin, imports from France and Italy account for 84.8% of the total imports of alcohol. In terms of category, the imports of wine dominate. In the first two months this year, 390,000 liters of wine were imported, accounting for the 79.6% of the total imports.
To further the inspection and supervision of imported alcohol via Lishe Bonded Logistics Center, inspection and quarantine departments have taken a number of measures. Firstly, the label inspection has been strengthened to make sure that the labels can truly and accurately reflect the characteristics and information. Secondly, publicizing campaigns for laws and regulations have been launched to enhance the importers’ sense of responsibility of food quality and safety. Thirdly, the on-site supervision and inspection of the food warehouses have been undertaken to examine the rectification of unqualified labels and prevent the imports of any substandard alcoholic products. Fourthly, the access system for imported food has been further standardized by keeping records of the beyond-the-border alcoholic product exporters, import agents and domestic consignees. Fifthly, the importers are required to establish the record-keeping system for food imports and sales, and the inspection departments will carry out regular supervision and inspection on the implementation of the system.
