"I never thought that we can have our own industrial platform, with enterprises providing orders before planting and helping us in deep processing." said Mr. Zhu, a tea farmer and an honored guest to the opening ceremony of the Yinzhou Tea Culture Association, who became more confident for his tea farm after hearing the working plans of the association.
The tea growing area of Yinzhou District is about 40,000 mu, with a total annual output value of 300 million yuan. However, according to Cai Geyong, first Chairman of the association, "despite the good profits of the green tea picked before the Qingming Festival, the summer tea and autumn tea, with greater output, are not profitable for tea farmers."
With the support of the district government, the association, on the one hand, is engaged in the establishment of the first E-business platform for tea products and the WeChat public platform for the tea industry in Ningbo, to help the tea farmers and dealers regulate and expand the market. On the other hand, it endeavors to introduce deep-processing enterprises and establish the platform for the tea farmers in the form of "order agriculture", to research and develop such products with high added value as tea polyphenols and decaffeinated tea for the international market. According to Cai Geyong, with the official operation of the R&D enterprises, the history of the average export price of US$3.8 per kilo and a profit of less than 3% will be a past.
In the meantime, the association will build the training and education base in cooperation with the professional institutions or colleges, to cultivate a group of national tea skill masters, national tea assessors and tea farmers with new-type growing technologies.
