Ningbo selected among “Chinese service outsourcing cities with greatest potential”

Known as the “new engine” of the green economy, service outsourcing industry is becoming a strong driving force of innovation and development in Ningbo. The latest statistics from Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau show that in the first five months of 2013, the executive turnover of the city’s service outsourcing exceeded 4 billion yuan, an increase of over 30%. In the recently held 6th Global Outsourcing Conference, Ningbo and Qingdao were selected as “Chinese service outsourcing cities with the greatest potential”.
Service outsourcing features low resource consumption, less environmental pollution and high-tech content. In recent years, with the opportunity of building a national innovation-oriented city, Ningbo has vigorously developed its service outsourcing industry, by introducing such leading international or domestic enterprises as the Microsoft, Disney animation, Tata (India), Rococo (Japan), Shenzhen Huawei, Chinasoft International, and Shenzhou Digital. Last year, there were 32 service outsourcing enterprises with the registered capital of more than ten million yuan, and a batch of strong outsourcing enterprises built their headquarters in Ningbo.
With its advantages in port logistics and smart city construction, Ningbo service has caught up and begun to take the lead in terms of service outsourcing industry. Statistics show that in the last five years, the city’s service outsourcing business volume has achieved an average annual increase of 38.4%. Last year, the contract volume of outsourcing and the contract volume of offshore outsourcing for the first time exceeded 10 billion yuan and $500 million respectively, making Ningbo one of the most potential cities for development of service
outsourcing. From January to May this year, the service outsourcing contract volume and executive volume amounted to 5.073 billion yuan and 4.096 billion yuan, an increase of 33.5% and 31.38% respectively. Currently, there are 754 service outsourcing enterprises, employing more than 30,000 people.
According to the planning, by 2015, the volume of service outsourcing in Ningbo will reach 20 billion yuan. “The global service outsourcing industry has entered another phase of rapid development so far. Ningbo should actively develop its service outsourcing business by applying such new technologies as cloud computing, macro data and 3D printing, and making the industry its new engine for innovative development and its new opportunity for transformational development.
