Meishan imported more than 1,600 whole cars

We learned from Meishan Customs on January,16 that Ningbo Meishan Bonded Port, as the only port for finished automobile import, received the declaration of 1,613 cars worth RMB 519 million yuan in 2014. Imported cars turned to be the new growth point for Meishan bonded port and a new name card as the most special imported commodities.
It is reported that the number of imported cars increased at a snail’s pace in the first half year of 2014 which was 260 cars in total accounting for 16.3% in the whole year. After a series of favorable measures concerning
clearance for finished automobile import including guarantee and release and temporary entrance for showcasing were adopted, the importation in Meishan port picked up quickly with 1,352 cars in the second half year which were over five times more than that of the first half year.
“In the first half year, the automobile sale was sluggish and we also had difficulties in our capital. After learning the situation in Customs-enterprise Communication meetings, Ningbo Customs issued a series of measures such as guarantee and release and temporary entrance for showcasing. We didn’t have to pay the tax until the cars were formally imported. This not only relaxed our pressure on capitals but strengthened our confidence in declaration of finished automobile import in Meishan port.” said a person in charge of Ningbo Shengdong Automobile Trade Co., Ltd. Ltd.
We also learn that the constant optimization of clearance procedures concerning the finished automobile import attracted more automobile import enterprise to come to Ningbo. Currently, there are 42 enterprises going through declarations in Meishan port, among which 34 were newcomers in the second half year of 2014. The figure is four times more than the total number of imported cars in the first half year. Imported cars are mainly SUV vehicles accounting for 90% including BMW X5, BMW X6, Range Rover and Land Cruiser. It is predicted that the number of imported cars will increase substantially in 2015
