Damuwan got donation of $550,000 from Global Environment Facility

The other day, The low-carbon ecological city project of Damuwan has made initial progress in its application for the Global Environment Facility. The donation amounts 550,000 US dollars. This is the first donation the Global Environment Facility has granted to a overall pilot construction of a city. The project will start in June 2013.
Reportedly, the Global Environment Facility is an international financial institution of the UN, which aims to give financial support to the benefit countries in their projects concerning climate change, biological diversity, international waters and ozone layer loss. The goal is to improve the global environment and promote the sustainable development of the benefit countries.
In 2012, Beijing and Ningbo got the grants. Damuwan New Town in Xiangshan is a part of the Ningbo project. The subproject is to make overall pilot experiments in urban spatial planning, smart traffic and smart city pattern.
