Foreign funded enterprises blossom

In 2014, 594 foreign-funded enterprises were registered in Ningbo (including 216 branch offices and three partnership enterprises), with a total investment of US$5.9671 billion, and a total registered capital of US$3.56816 billion, including US$3.04359 from foreign investment, down by 10.9%, 4.7%, 8.2% and 10.4% respectively over the previous year. However, from the perspective of the accumulative amount, besides the 0.6% decrease of registered number of business, the other three indexes have seen the growth rate of 13.6%, 12.2% and 12.6% respectively, showing that the foreign funded enterprises in Ningbo have witnessed steady development.
In terms of the business categories, the wholesale and retail enterprises take the lead. In 2014, 217 foreign-funded wholesale and retail enterprises were established (including 67 branch offices), accounting for about 40% of all the newly established enterprises. The Hankyu Business Co. Ltd., jointly invested by Ningbo Development Co. Ltd. and Ningbo Urban Real Estate Co. Ltd. with a total investment of 3 billion yuan, became the largest foreign-funded wholesale and retail enterprise in Ningbo, taking the place of the Zhejiang Jinhong-Senmei Coal Co. Ltd. which was established in 2012 and used to be the largest one.
The financial leasing enterprises have also witnessed great development, with nine financial leasing enterprises registered and established in 2014 and five financial leasing enterprises opening branches in Yinzhou District, the High-tech Zone, Ninghai County and other areas in Ningbo. The manufacturing enterprises have attracted a large amount of investment, with its total investment accounting for 29% of the foreign capitals, four percentage points higher than that in 2013.
