On June 8, we experienced more than 10 unique traditional folk activities at the Tianyige Museum, such as poetry, grass fighting, cinnabar pointing, Zongzi wrapping, hand string weaving, sachet making, and fan making. The customs of the Dragon Boat Festival written in the book are vividly displayed before our eyes, allowing many tourists to experience the "Dragon Boat Festival of the ancients" while visiting the park!
Grass fighting, also known as Doubaicao, is a popular folk game of the Dragon Boat Festival. In the South Garden of Tianyi Pavilion, children compete in pairs with each other holding grass leaves. The winner can point cinnabar on their forehead, symbolizing enlightenment and wishing for peace and health.
It's natural to wrap Zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival. Tourists gather in front of the booth, under the guidance of professional teachers, to get to know different types of zongzi leaves and learn how to make Ningbo's unique alkaline water zongzi.
In addition, there are also interesting and colorful experience activities around Dragon Boat festival such as making wormwood Loong Boat, weaving colorful ropes, making Paper Cuttings book bags, folding straw and weaving "damselflies", painting and drying blue round fans, so that tourists can have fun with the ancient customs of "ancients" while tasting Tianyi's calligraphy
