Ningbo-Zhoushan Port ranks No.13 among global shipping centers

The 2019 Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index was issued on July 11. The top five global shipping centers are Singapore, Hong Kong,London,ShanghaiandDubai.Ningbo-ZhoushanPortranks No.13 among all of the shipping centers.

Besides Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, the other Chinese shipping centers also included in the top 30 of the list include Guangzhou (No.16), Qingdao (No.17), Dalian (No.20), Shenzhen (No.22), Tianjin (No.240, Kaoshiung (No.25) and Xiamen (No.30).

In 2018, as the only one port with the throughput of over one billion tons in the world,Ningbo-ZhoushanPortachieved a total container throughput of over 26 million TEUs, ranking No.2 inChinaand No.3 in the world. In the first five months of this year, the volume of container throughput of the port continued to increase, with a total of 11.49 million TEUs, up by 4% over the same period of last year.

Container throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port accounts for more than 10% of the country in the first 4 months

According to the latest national port data released by the Ministry of Transport, from January to April, Ningbo Zhoushan Port, an important port along the coast, completed cargo throughput of 348.06 million tons, up 1.2% year-on-year; container throughput was 8.94 million TEUs, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year, accounting for one-tenth of the total container throughput of 82.27 million TEUs.

 

As of the end of April, the total number of container routes in Ningbo Zhoushan Port has reached 246, including 113 ocean trunk lines.  The sea-rail combined transport business has become a bright spot for container growth. From January to April, a total of 243,000 TEUs were completed, an increase of 49.5% year-on-year. Four new trains were added, and the total number of sea-rail intermodal trains has increased to 14.  The yellow sand, liquefied oil products and automobile ro-ro equipment are on the rise, with the auto-rolling business completing a throughput of 88,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 206.84%.  Affected by events such as the collapse of the Brazilian tailings dam and the hurricane in Australia, the throughput of iron ore in Zhoushan Port of Ningbo decreased slightly

Ningbo Port's total vehicle import exceeds 10 billion yuan

On the morning of April 29, a batch of Toyota Land Cruisers originating in Japan were successfully cleared with the click of mouse by Meishan Customs officials. The smooth import of these vehicles marks that the cumulative value of vehicle imports at Ningbo Port has exceeded 10 billion yuan.

As of April 29, Ningbo Port had imported a total of 28,867 vehicles, with a value of 10.02 billion yuan. "The breakthrough in the value of imported vehicles from Ningbo Port from zero to 1 billion yuan took 22 months, and from 9 billion yuan to 10 billion yuan took only 3 months." Meishan Customs officials said.

As the only import port for complete vehicles in Zhejiang Province, Ningbo Meishan Bonded Port Area officially launched the import business of complete vehicles at the end of December 2013. In 2016, it officially became a national parallel import vehicle pilot. No.7 container berth of Meishan Port checked and accepted

The No.7 container berth of Meishan Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has recently been checked and accepted upon completion, becoming another container berth with the largest maximum tonnage in China. 
The project is 459 meters long and 59 meters wide, with a designed capacity of 200,000 tons. The berth is connected with the land through an approach span, which is 22 meters wide and 436 meters long. 
The No.6 to NO.10 container berths of the Meishan Port are located on the south of the Chuanshan Peninsula, to the north of Xiangshan Bay and southeast of the Meishan Island, just next to the No.1 to No.5 container berths. 
According to a person in charge from Ningbo Municipal Administration of Port and Shipping, the No.6 to No.10 berths are the top-level container berths in China. With a total investment of about 7.8 billion yuan, they will be built as two 200,000-ton berths and three 150,000-ton ones, with the overall berth length of 2,150 meters and a designed annual passage capacity of 4.3 million TEUs.

Shared Big Data of Global Shipping Company

The Municipal Transportation Bureau and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group announced on April 29 that the world's largest cargo throughput port, Ningbo Zhoushan Port, and 62 shipping companies around the world have realized data information exchange, covering all global routes in Hong Kong. Ningbo Zhoushan Port has become the first port in the country to realize the paperless operation and the visualization of logistics nodes in the whole process of container import and export.

In the foreign trade process, the goods from factories are sold to the whole world by sea, and it is often necessary to contact the shipping companies through the freight forwarding companies. In the interim, the freight forwarder needs to know the schedule and container information from the websites of major shipping companies, print the packing list, and send it to the truck driver by the runners. Then the truck driver will go to the yard to pick up the empty containers and go to the factory to have them loaded and finally shipped according to the schedule.
