On January 15, Ningbo Zhoushan Port released the following information: according to statistics from Zhejiang Port and Shipping Management Center, the total cargo handling capacity of this port reaches 1.119 billion tons in 2019, making it the only mega port in the world with an annual figure overtaking 1.1 billion tons and ranking first in the world for 11 consecutive years. Its container handling capacity exceeded 27.53 million, ranking among the top three in the world.

“As the largest comprehensive cargo hub, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has complete wharves and deals with all kinds of goods. Cargo like mine, coal and oil associated with the sustainability of national economy all can be transferred and dealt here”, said person concerned from Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

Import and export volume of Ningbo Port hits a historical high

According to the statistics from Ningbo Customs, the total value of import and export of Ningbo Port in 2017 reached 17 trillion yuan, up by 6.7% over the previous year, hitting a historical high in terms of the scale. To be specific, the export volume stood at 12 trillion yuan, up by 9.4%, and the import volume stood at 498.89 billion yuan, up by 0.6%, with the trade surplus of 710.86 billion yuan, up by 16.6%.

In terms of the variety of the enterprises, the private import and export enterprises achieved a total import and export volume of over 11 trillion yuan, up by 10.5%, accounting for 66.4% of the total, with a contribution rate of 100% to the growth of the port foreign trade. The foreign-funded import and export enterprises achieved a total import and export volume of 293.78 billion yuan, up by 3.6%. While the state-owned import and export enterprises achieved a total import and export volume of 279.04 billion yuan, down by 3.8%.

The latest production report of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group shows that in the first half of 2019, the container throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port reached 13.9 million TEUs, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 1.7 percentage points from the first quarter.
