Ningbo Symphony Orchestra played in Kasematten Concert Hall

On the evening of August 3 local time, the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra played the magnificent finale of its European tour at the Vienna Kasematten Concert Hall. The grand symphonic concert crossed the national borders to deliver music and friendship.Rainer Spenger, Deputy Mayor of Wiener Neustadt, and Christian Hoffmann, official spokesperson of Wiener Neustadt Government, attended the concert.As a tour of the 2023 Ningbo International Vocal Competition, one of its major highlights has been the joining of outstanding Chinese and foreign singers in the  performance.Russian baritone Andrei Maximov and Austrian bass Felix Pasher presented excerpts from Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville”, Verdi’s “Don Carlo” and “Simon Poconera” respectively. With their profound artistic expertise and great insight into the diagonal tones, they interpreted every lyric delicately in an appealing way.Andrei Maximov is currently with the Austrian State Opera. He stated that participating in the Ningbo International Vocal Competition was an unforgettable experience, and performing on stage with other outstanding singers was a valuable experience to him.Chinese soprano Zhang Yi, with her clear, sweet, and penetrating voice, perfectly interprets the tenderness and perseverance of the female characters in excerpts from Mozart’s “The Woman’s Heart” and Donizetti’s

“Don Pasquale”.As soon as Chinese mezzo soprano singer Cai Jingwen, who won the first place in the women’s vocal part of the 2023 Ningbo International Vocal Competition, appeared on the stage, there was a burst of cheers. She passionately performed excerpts from “Samson and Delilah” and “Sappho”, attracting the audience with a warm and penetrating voice.In the second half, the orchestra fascinated the audience with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Nine singers from previous vocal competitions took the stage and sang the song “Welcome to Ningbo” in unison, pushing the atmosphere of the concert to its climax.The Ningbo International Vocal Competition has not only promoted the exchange and development of global vocal art, but also provided valuable opportunities for young musical talents to showcase themselves. Peter Paul Kineris, President of the World Music Competition Alliance, stated that the Ningbo International Vocal Competition is the only event hosted by a symphony orchestra, and this unique form has provided a broader platform for contestants to show their talents
