Ningbo Railway Station Hub to be completed

After about five years of construction, Ningbo Railway Station, the largest transportation hub of Ningbo, will be fully completed by the end of September, becoming a new landmark for the city integrating railway, rail transit, and the bus system. 
With the installation of the escalator, the laying of the comprehensive communications lines and the asphalting of the surrounding roads, the construction of the North Square of Ningbo Railway Station is coming to a concluding part. 
"According to the current progress of the project, the transportation hub will be completed and put into used at the end of this month." said Ni Wei, General Director of the Commanding Office of the Ningbo Railway Station Hub Construction, who is conducting an on-spot working meeting on the morning of September 9. 
In October 2010, the reconstruction and extension project of the 51-year-old Ningbo Railway Station was started. With an investment of 12 billion yuan, the new railway station hub project covers an area of 280,000 square meters, with the north square and the south square, connecting Rail Transit No.2 and No.4, the coach station, the urban buses, slow traffic and eight linking roads. By the end of 2013, the railway station and the south square had been put into use. And in May 2015, the coach station was completed and put into operation. 
Then in mid-June, the municipal party committee and the municipal government put forward the proposal to complete the hub construction and the supporting projects ahead of schedule by the end of September. The Northern Square, as an important part of the hub, is located to the west of Moonlake Building, to the east of Cangsong Road and to the south of West Railway Station Road. Compared with the Southern Square, it has more functions, including the circulation of the buses, taxi, private cars and residents, the business stores, and the linking with the Rail Transit No.2 and No.4. In the future, the underground space of the Northern Square will be connected with the block of the former South Coach Station. 
It is reported that the other supporting projects to be completed at the same time with the Northern Square include the northern passenger platform, the Rail Transit No.2, the viaduct and tunnel of the Xiayu Road (connecting the Airport Expressway and Yongda Road), and the West Railway Station Road

Draft of Ningbo traffic plan released

Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Planning released the draft of the "comprehensive planning for urban transportation in Ningbo (2015-2020)" on September 8. According to the planning, Ningbo will take the opportunity of the "one belt, one road" initiative to build itself as an important transportation hub and a city with high-level public traffic system.
The plan includes five comprehensive transportation development strategies, respectively for the hub city, traffic guidance, needs control, public traffic priority and an integrated traffic system. Based on the above strategies, the city will strengthen its port effect to promote the development of the aviation portal. Ningbo will built a 2-hour traffic circle with cities in the Yangtze River Delta area through the existing high-speed rail and highway system, a 7-hour traffic circle with the major city groups in China, a 1-hour commuting circle and a 30-minute commuting circle in the central urban area

5th Smart City Expo held

The opening ceremony of the 5th Smart City Expo, China was held at Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center on September 11. According to the staff, the four special exhibition areas of the expo will be fully arranged by September 10, and will be open to the public at 9am on September 11. 
With a total exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, the expo attracted about 300 exhibitors with 1100 standard booths, and the area for special exhibitions accounts for 85% of the total. There will be four exhibition halls for 10 exhibitions, including the section for well-known enterprises, the section for smart city pilots in Zhejiang Province, the Internet + manufacturing section, the section for smart housing and portable equipment, smart education section, information security section, smart finance section, smart health section, the section for Internet of things technologies, and smart water service section. The three internet operators will carry out their exhibitions at No. 2, 3 and 4 halls. 
Hall No.1 will be an exhibition area for the smart city pilots in Zhejiang Province, as well as the latest technological achievements in the smart city construction field by such prominent corporations as CETC, Alibaba, SAP and IBM, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. Hall No.2 will be other well-known enterprises and the internet + manufacturing section. The internet + manufacturing section covers an area of 2000 square meters, and has attracted such leading domestic companies in the field as Siasun Robot, Joyson Electronics, BT Robot and . HollySys. Hall No.3 is mainly for smart education, information security, Internet of things technology, smart water service and smart housing and portable equipment. It is reported that the municipal Bureau of Education will exhibit such practical programs as the remote control experiment center for primary and secondary schools, and the 3D virtual classrooms. Hall No.4 will be for smart medicine and smart finance. The area for the smart medicine, covering an area of 400 square meters, has attracted such leading medicine enterprises as Neusoft, Ewell and Medzone Biotech.

In the evening of September 1, the second Citizen Cultural and Art Festival in Ningbo held its opening ceremony in Ningbo Cultural Plaza.
In the evening of September 1 in Ningbo Cultural Plaza, the opening ceremony attracted numerous people. Since the tickets were given out in advance, people who hadn’t got the tickets thought out every means to watch the show, some standing on the bridge, some facing the crowd listening, and some even watching the reflection on the wall a building. 
Nearly 600 actors took part in the performance. The ceremony mainly presented Ningbo as a historical city, an international port city and a city with love. Apart from the traditional songs, dances and operas, the opening ceremony also showed concern for autistic children, the Anti-Japanese War veterans, Chinese historical and cultural villages and ecological protection of marine fishery culture.
