Ningbo Initiative for the 1,000th Anniversary of Baoguo Temple released

At the closing ceremony for the Symposium of the 1000th Anniversary of the Grand Hall of Baoguo Temple and the Annual Meeting of China Association of Architecture History, Over 100 scholars and experts in architecture from Architectural History Society of Architectural Society of China, Institute of Architecture of Tsinghua University and Institute of Architecture of Dongnan University jointly announced the Ningbo Initiative for the 1,000th Anniversary of Baoguo Temple, which calls the world on the protection, rational uses and exhibition of ancient Asian buildings.
Professor Lu Zhou, one of the initiator of the initiative claims that the Grand Hall of Baoguo Temple is a rare representative of the concept, technique and pattern of the Eastern architecture and therefore it should be an important base for the study of ancient Chinese and even East Asian buildings. The Ningbo Initiative once again confirms the cultural value of Baoguo Temple and it is of great significance for the protection of the eastern architectural heritage.
Professor Zhu Guangya, a draftsman of the initiative, said that in recent years, Ningbo has laid down a good foundation for the effective protection of Baoguo Gemple with the preventive investigations, supervisions and basic studies, that the city has carried out protective studies of the temple in cooperation with some universities and research institutions and that in doing so the city has made contribution to the preventive protection of the cultural heritages of China and the preventive protection of eastern architectural culture.
