Paper plane contest held in Ningbo

Yesterday, the 7rd Ningbo Paper Plane Contest was held in the No. 4 pavilion of Ningbo’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre. With a total of 6,000 enthusiasts participating in this event, the number of contestants this year hit a new high. Over 3,500 contests entered the final after a qualifier contest. Some contestants even came from Hangzhou and Zhoushan. Two national records were broken in the event.

More public bicycle leasing stations added in Zhenhai, Beilun, and Yinzhou districts

During the National Day holiday, 335 public bicycles in 12 leasing stations were added in Yinzhou District. Meanwhile, Beilun and Zhenhai districts also started their bicucle leasing service. In Beilun District, 150 public bicycles were put into use in eight leasing stations. Zhenhai District also opened 8 leasing stations with 120 public bicycles. With these newly-opened stations, there are a total of 60 public bicycle leasing stations on operation in Ningbo now.

The daily average rent amounted to 650 bicycles in the past a few days, said Shi Zhanwei, director of Public Bicycle Service Development Co., Ltd.. He added that three new leasing stations in Haishu and Jiangbei districts are scheduled to open after the National Day holiday.

According to related department, all the branches of Citizen Card Service Center, except centers in Beilun Xinqi and Honglian, will reopen on October 5. Public bicycle users can open leasing service in any nearby service center. A common question from the public is whether they can use the newly-issued Yongchengtong IC card for public bicycle leasing. According to the on-site staff of the leasing department, users of Yongchengtong IC card can enjoy the leasing service until October 15 when the system is updated.

'Golden Week' boosts Ningbo's tourism market

The number of tourists to Ningbo's major attractions had totaled 882,400 in the first four days of the "golden week", or the 7-day National Day holiday, according to the Municipal Tourism Bureau. Twenty-five scenic spots received an average of over 10,000 tourists per day.

The tourist numbers in Xikou scenic spot, Songlanshan tourist resort and Dongqian Lake reached more than 50,000O on October 4, leading other tourist attractions in Ningbo. Besides, eight tourist attractions including Xiangshan Film Studios, Cixi Daqiao Ecological Farm, and Xiangshan Shipu Fishing Dock received more than 20,000 tourists. The hotel occupancy rate reached 80 percent, higher over previous day.

Besides, factory tours are turning hot among tourists to Ningbo. During the first four days of the holiday, self-drive tours, suburban tours and countryside tours are popular among tourists. The city's major tourist attractions saw an increasing tourist number compared to the same period in 2012. New forms of tourism like leisurely trips and factory tours become highlight this year. Tours to villages in the outskirts, coastal villages in Xiangshan, and Dongqian Lake are increasing. "The first four days of the holiday shows factory tours are increasingly important development trend during this golden week," said an official of Municipal Tourism Bureau. Currently, Ningbo has nine factory tour attractions on national and provincial level, which can provide the real flavor of a region’s unique culture and history to tourists home and abroad. In 2012, companies represented by Zhejiang Shipyard and Hangzhou Bay Base of Geely Automobile have been rated as factory tour attractions on provincial level. In 2013, more than 10 companies including Ningbo Sonluk Battery Co., Ltd., Oulin Kitchen Utensils Co., Ltd, Helen Piano Co., Ltd are competing for provincial or municipal factory tour spots.
