“RIDE FOR HOPE” CHARITY ACTIVITY OPENS FOR REGISTRATION AT SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, NINGBO

 

Ningbo, Zhejiang, 13 November 2013 – With the joint effort of 11 Shangri-La properties in south and east China, the Ride for Hope charity activity has opened for registration and will pedal off on 16 November 2013 at Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen and the “Ride for Hope” activity in Ningbo is scheduled on 4 December which starts the riders’ enrollment now.Cycling from Shenzhen to Shanghai and passing through four provinces and twenty-two cities, the 2,000-kilometer Ride for Hope was initiated to raise money to fund three selected beneficiaries – a group of villagers living in Guangxi Autonomous Region, Shenzhen Blue Ocean Conservation Association and the Will Foundation.

Riders in Ningbo who wish to join the Ride for Hope event can register at Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo.  The registration fee is Rmb200 per adult or Rmb100 per child as the donation for charity.  Those who cannot physically visit the hotels may call the hotel on (86 574) 8799 8888 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. The riding team of Ningbo will start riding from Shangri-La Hotel, Ningbo, along the Baizhang Road to The Old Bund, then along the North Ring Road to Haishu Park, circling around the downtown and back to the Hotel, covering a total distance of 15 kilometers in approximately 1.5 hours.  Six riders who have committed to completing the whole journey from Shenzhen to Shanghai will say goodbye to Ningbo riders and continue their ride to the next stop, Shangri-La Hotel, Hangzhou. 

The six riders, include Mr. Nicholas Smith, resident manager of Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen and initiator of this activity; Mr. Thomas Bird, a British freelance writer based in Shenzhen; Mr. Carl Wu, a young cycling aficionado from Shenzhen; Mr. Li Xiao Bao, who once cycled 2,600 kilometres from Yunnan to Lhasa, crossing the west of China; Mr. Lu Yushui, a cycling enthusiast dedicated to helping the children in Guangxi Autonomous Region; and Mr. Lu Bao Kang, who ranked tenth among 500 racers in the most recent tournament in Beihai City.
