Ningbo's Nursing Cause Enters into Rapid Development Stage

At the day of May 18th, Shao Yadi, the ICU head nurse form Ningbo First Hospital, went on her duty as usual. She was confirmed with the title as one of the Nightingale Nurses of Ningbo, along with four other first-tier white angels. As the medicare developed over the previous years, this became a symbol of the booming nursing industry.
Our nursing group has been evolving at its fastest pace during the past five years. By the end of 2013, the number of registered nurses across the city has reached by 43% up to 19668, an increase form 5940 of 2009. The nurses equipped with associate degree and with higher educational certificates rising to 51%, an increase of 24% over 2009. Demonstration wards (units) of high-quality care service have been established by 343 in all tertiary-level hospitals in our city by the end of 2013, accounting for 88.89% of the total number of the wards in Ningbo. All Grade A tertiary hospitals in Ningbo were equipped with the demonstration wards, with indices ranking the top throughout the province.
The municipality will take facilitating the good care service in hospitals of all levels as a key move to bring in the reform of public hospital management. Hospitals in our city carried out the mode of holistic nursing service in a responsibility system, in which the clinic nursing personnel were allocated legitimately to patients according to proportion and job requirement, and in which responsibilities were clearly defined in light of patients’ condition, work difficulty, and technical requirements. With flexible shift arranging, sound manpower allocation was ensured in the peak time of patient treating, and thus continual care service was enhanced. The practice of high-quality nursing service guaranteed the adequate time for nurses being in the wards and of communications between nurses and patients, ensuring medical safety and quality, harmonizing nurse-patient relationship, and thus achieved the shared goal of attaining satisfactory results by patients, doctors, and nurses.
Recently, a forwarded file about improving the treatment of nursing personnel, which was from the government of Zhejiang Province, was issued by our municipality. It offers night-shift allowance to each first-tier clinical nurses, who can therefore get an additional pay form 200 to 350 yuan per month, in line with their job experience. At the same time, it also allows retired nurses having been working for over 30 years to continue to get the pension at the original basic salary.
