Ningbo to distribute bird flu relief funds to poultry farmers

The Municipal Government Office announced yesterday that Ningbo plans to distribute emergency relief funds to owners of large poultry farms. The move aims to help large poultry farms to maintain normal production order during the Spring Festival and allows the owners pay their workers and buy chicken feed. The money will be allocated to the county or district financial departments, who shall distribute to farmers by this Thursday.
Poultry sales nosedive since the first case of human infection with the H7N9 bird flu was reported in Ningbo on January 10. To support local poultry farming industry, which suffer huge loss amid bird flu, Ningbo government decides to distribute emergency relief funds to poultry farmers and assist the farmers in mitigating the risk of the bird flu.
