Ningbo Institute of Port Studies was established in Zhejiang Wanli University on May 23. Meanwhile, the first Ningbo Forum for Developing Port Economy was held. Vice-mayor Hong Jiaxiang unveiled nameplate for the center.
In recent years, the port environment of Ningbo has been optimized and its competitiveness has witnessed remarkable increase. Last year, the total import-export value via Ningbo Port reached US$211.9 billion, up by 7.3% over the previous year, ranking No.7 among all the ports in China.
Ningbo Institute of Port Studies is an academic research institute jointly sponsored by the Port and Anti-smuggling Office of Ningbo and Zhejiang Wanli University. It aims to carry out researches on such related fields as port service facilitation, FTZ construction, and the coordinated development of international shipping and port economy. With the focus on port economy studies, the institute will make efforts to cultivate the high-end talents for the related fields by carrying out professional training courses and activities. In addition, the institute will integrate the quality research resources from home and abroad, strengthen its cooperation and communication with government departments, the ports and trade & shipping enterprises, and carry out seminars, talents docking meetings and achievement transformation and display meetings for the related fields.
