Collecting 68 biggest mining ships in the world,

the world's largest port sets a new record

At about 12 noon on July 5, under the “guard” of several tugboats, the world's largest 400,000-ton mining ship “Brazil” slowly docked at berth 1 of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port ShulanghuOre Transfer Terminal, announcing that Ningbo Zhoushan Port set a record for the arrival of all 68 of the world's largest mining ships.

“The largest ship is not rare, the rare is the 'Grand Slam'.” The relevant person in charge of Ningbo Zhoushan Port said with a smile.

As the world's largest port in terms of cargo throughput, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has always been a popular “check-in place” for the largest ships of all kinds. Prior to this, the world's largest 400,000-ton mining vessel, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Shulanghu Lake ore transit terminal has received and unloaded more than 300 times, and the cumulative iron ore throughput has exceeded 300 million tons, which can fill more than 5,000 standard football fields. In addition, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has also received and unloaded the world's largest oil tanker “Taiou” for many times, and successively received the world's largest container ship “Changfan”, “Mediterranean Irina” and “Mediterranean Michel Cappellini”, frequently breaking records.

Facing the busy main shipping route of the Pacific Ocean and backed by the most dynamic Yangtze River Delta Economic Circle, Ningbo Zhoushan Port is an ideal distribution center for trade and transit transportation of goods between China and all continents. By the end of last year, Ningbo Zhoushan Port had established trade channels with more than 600 ports in more than 200 countries and regions, ranking first in the world in annual cargo throughput for 14 consecutive years and ranking among the top three in the world in annual container throughput.

Under such hard verification power, it is only a matter of time before the largest ports “collect” the largest mining ships.

In January 2016, riding the east wind of the integration reform of Zhejiang marine ports, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Shulanghu Lake ore transit terminal was put into trial production; In September of the same year, it successfully docked the world's largest 400,000-ton mining ship “Visionhai”, sounding the clarion call for Ningbo Zhoushan Port to advance into the “big ship era” of iron ore.

After that, the meeting of the big ship and the big port, press the “shortcut key”.

Since July 2020, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Shulanghu Lake Ore Transfer Terminal has launched the “Climbing Action”, actively responding to market changes and external challenges, internally repairing fine management methods, external training to broaden business skills, and achieving double-digit year-on-year growth in annual ore throughput for three consecutive years.

On August 11, 2020, the cumulative ore receiving and unloading capacity of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Shulanghu Lake ore transit terminal exceeded 100 million tons, and then exceeded 200 million tons in less than three years, achieving a great leap in transportation and production. The terminal has also actively expanded multi-format operations, promoted the first bonded grinding mine in China and bonded mixed ore business in different countries, and the output of mixed ore has ranked first among domestic terminals for four consecutive years.

At present, as the only iron ore terminal in China with two berths for 400,000 tons of ore ships, the efficiency of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Shulanghu Lake ore transit terminal has been improved, and the time for receiving and unloading 400,000 tons of ore ships has been shortened from 95.23 hours to 34.25 hours today
