Ningbo-Zhoushan Port develops domestic and international circulation

On April 28, a sea-rail intermodal train loaded with 60 TEUs of outdoor furniture and other goods set out from Xixian (Xinyang) Railway Station to Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. This is the first time that the train has been opened. It is learned from relevant departments that the annual container volume target of Ningbo sea-rail intermodal transport this year is to break through 1.2 million TEUs, the heavy container rate will remain above 50%, and more than two inland dry ports will be added.
Ningbo is the location of the world's largest cargo port and the world's third largest container port, as well as one of the world's largest shipping hubs. Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo, with the reputation of "Oriental Port", has continued its efforts to build a key node of domestic and international circulation. In the first quarter, the cargo throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was 290 million tons, up by 17.1% over the same period of last year, among which the cargo throughput of Ningbo Port was 150 million tons, an increase of 17.8%. The container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was 7.689 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%, among which the container throughput of Ningbo Port was 7.22 million TEUs, an increase of 24.0%.

Ningbo Port and Shipping Economy Starting Steadily in the First Quarter

Since the beginning of this year, as the global economic recovery has improved, port and shipping production has performed well, with cargo throughput, container throughput and other indicators showing double-digit growth year-on-year. Information from Ningbo Port and Shipping Management Center shows that in the first quarter, Ningbo Port completed a cargo throughput of 152,989,700 tons, an increase of 17.82% year-on-year and an increase of 7.27% year-on-year; completed container throughput of 7.22 million TEUs, year-on-year An increase of 23.96%, an increase of 12.65% over the same period in 2019.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port's Container Volume in the First Quarter Increased by 25.1% Year-on-year

​1st quarterfreight volume of the Ningbo section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal exceeds one million tons

It was learned from the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration on April 9 that in the first quarter of this year, the freight volume of the Ningbo section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal exceeded 1 million tons, reaching 1,277,500 tons, new highs over the same period in history.

China’s first TVIP unveiled in Ningbo

On September 28, China’s first terminal and vessel interaction platform (TVIP), developed by Ningbo Ocean Shipping Tally Co.,Ltd, was unveiled and going on trial operation at Ningbo Zhoushan port, which realized the electronic circulation of all tallying papers. As reported, it is the first terminal and vessel interaction platform in the tally industry nationwide.

As an important document to prove the completion of cargo handover between the shipper and port, tallying papers should be confirmed and signed by both captain or chief officer of carrier and ocean shipping tally staffs, which was the only shortcoming of zero-contact for shipping tally under the new circumstance of regular overseas epidemic prevention and control.
