Record number of passengers through Ningbo airport

The month of April brought three records to Ningbo Lishe International Airport. According to the airport management, the airport had handled a record number of 1,100 flights per week in April as it stared the summer and autumn flight schedule, an increase of nearly 20 percent compared to the same period last year, representing the city's largest increase in traffic handing capacity in three years. Meanwhile, both the passenger and freight traffic registered rapid growth. A total of 4,868 flights taking off and landing at the airport in April, up 23.6 percent year on year. A total of 573,400 passengers went through the airport, up 22.9 percent year on year. A total of 6953.1 tons of cargo and mails were handled, up 30.8 percent year on year. The three records indicates the airport has achieved the highest growth rate in nearly five years.

 

According to the management of Lishe International Airport, it has reached cooperation agreements with a number of airline companies including China Eastern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, and SF Airlines. With the participation of new companies like United Airlines, Donghai Airlines, Okay Airways, and Chengdu Aviation, the airport is currently serving 33 airlines. Meanwhile, a number of domestic and international airlines are increasing and improving flight routes and schedules to Ningbo. More flights have been added to major destinations like Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Chongqing, and Dalian. The airport also opened new routes to Nanning, Xishuangbanna, and Weifang. The airport is now connecting with 43 domestic and international destinations.

With its growing capacity, the airport plans to further improve and expand the air transportation service. Besides the existing market of Zhoushan and Taizhou, the airport seeks to explore new markets in surrounding cities. Promotion shows will be held in Shaoxing and Jinhua. New terminal buildings will be built in Shaoxing and Jinhua to facilitate passengers. In collaboration with Logistics Park, Airport Group Company, local air traffic control, and military aviation departments, Ningbo Airport has adopted PBN system starting from April 3, which enhance both aviation safety and airport security.
