well it’s another Ningbo New Year.
OK OK … so  according to most locals it is not the REAL new year.
For those of you that do not know…. China traditional calendars run by the Lunar year.  The Lunar year ends on January 22nd.  The Chinese New Year is referred to as 过年(Guònián)…. And is a really HUGE deal in all of china.
The lesser celebrated is what we know of as Western New Year…. Or 新年 (Xīnnián) on January 1st.  Although it is less celebrated, it does not mean that nothing is going on.  So let me let you know of a few things going on, and a few opportunities you may not know of this New Year to keep in mind.
TNT New Year’s Eve Party: For those of you that do not know what TNT is…. Where have you been?  TNT is a busy Chinese dance club/bar.  It’s funny to call Chinese clubs “dance” clubs, because rarely do you find room between the masses of drinking people to move around enough to make movements one would call dancing.  But I still enjoy it.
Here is some more information about the party!
23rd Ningbo Spring Festival Shopping Fair:  Want to buy some unique foods, or just walk around and do a little people watching?  These Chinese fairs can be entertaining and a fun way to spend your day.  Foods from all over the country are displayed, and some of it is real exotic.  The other thing that is exotic is the way some of these vendors get you interested in their booth.  Dancing, Screaming, Being Shirtless…. Sometimes all at the same time.  Need I say more?
Here is some more information.
KuoCang Mountain: Looking to kick off the New Year with a little adventure?  How about you join Dapeng on a climb of KuoCang mountain.   Get out… See some cool scenery… and start the new year with a little something new.
For more details contact Dapeng…. Click here.
Whatever you decide to do… please keep in mind the importance of the new year.  The New Year is a time to reflect on the last year… but it is also a time to move forward.  So if you’re sitting down…. Stuck in something you don’t want to do in a place you don’t want to be…  get up… get out… and change. You may not realize it..but there is a lot to do in Ningbo.  So check it out.  There is no time like the present, because the present is a gift, and it’s gone as quickly as you receive it.
Happy New Year Ningbo!
Happy New Year the World!
And if you are chinese…. Ill wish you all “another” happy new year on the 22nd.

2012 is going to rock. 2012
Best Regards,
Matthew Galat
