Website set up for reporting environmental violations

A new website, named "Environmental eye", (http://hd.cnnb.com.cn/zt2014/hjy/) has been launched on Tuesday for the citizens of Ningbo to report environmental violations. Any citizen of Ningbo can report environmental violations witnessed by clicking the "Environmental Complaint" button and submitting a written complaint.
Jointly established by Ningbo Environmental Protection Association, Southeast Business Daily, and cnnb.com.cn, the website aims to serve as a communication channel between government departments and the general public and encourage more public participation in environmental protection.
Ningbo citizens are encouraged to make any environmental complaint to the relevant government authorities. They can also report an environmental problem to the website or call 87270000, the hotline of Southeast Business Daily.
The local environmental authorities are required to respond to all citizen complaints regarding severe environmental pollution and urge concerning departments to address citizens' environmental complaints timely.
In order to ensure public access to environmental information, the website also includes environmental science, relevant policies and regulations on environmental pollution category, hazards, and control measures.
