Ningbo to speed up internationalization of the city

At the meeting held on March 27 on the promotion of internationalization of the city, Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government released "Outlines of Ningbo for Promoting Internationalization of the City. The outline consists of 9 actions, which takes the internationalization of the city as the impetus for the opening and the rising of the comprehensive competitiveness of the city. In the coming 10 years, the city will make great efforts to turn itself into a regional central city in the Changjiang River Delta, and by 2030 the city shall become a quite influential internationalized city in the Asian-Pacific region.
The outline specifies the targets between 2020 and 2030. In the first stage (between 2014 and 2020), Shanghai and Shenzhen will be the target pod. In the 2nd stage (between 2021 and 2030), Hong Kong and Busan will the target pod of the city.
In the first stage, Ningbo will concentrate on the industrial highland that have more international elements. It will have enterprises with international competitiveness, introduce a number of hi-end international talents, build infrastructural facilities needed by an internationalized city, have perfect functions in international trade, international shipping, and financing, have good environment for living and business, and perfect urban economic functionality.
In the second stage, the city will concentrate on the cooperation with international cities in the world. It will make important breakthroughs in structural transformation, innovation, urban development, ecological environment, smart city and institution construction, turn the port into a first grade international port, and turn itself into a headquarter base and logistic center of international trade so as to become a quite influential internationalized city in the Asian-Pacific region.
To be specific, the nine actions consist of 39 measures, including the construction of international trade center, the promotion of industrialization, and construction of internationalized opening platform, the construction of a competitive international port, the strengthening of international innovative capacity, the cultural construction, the construction of internationalized living conditions, the improvement of soft environment for internationalization and the improvement of the international image and so on.
According to the Outline, the city will make breakthroughs in the construction of regional import center, international e-business and national outsourcing service. By 2020, the city will turn the International Trade and Exhibition Center into a regional base of headquarters of international trade, a antinational center of conference and exhibition, a trading center of import and export equipment, a pioneering area for e-business platform for import and export, and the turnover of e-business trading shall be over 10 billion US dollars.
